Something big cool happened in Las Vegas...

...and it was merely mentioned on BN. I never saw the mention until I searched for it, after receiving an email from Meet the Phlockers that featured a blog post from yesterday. Liz is a BNer too, and I think it should be celebrated!
I hope she doesn't mind me sharing.
I was so happy to meet Liz and Ms Sammie in Vegas last fall. Sammie's got a wonderful spirit, but she's a dog, and it comes easy to her!
But Liz is a wonderful spirit, too. Her enthusiasm for Jimmy Buffett is refreshing, and to share in experiences that were new to her, and she was apprehensive about, was nothing but pure joy. Liz on a Buffett weekend just shines, and you feel her heart glow. These are the kinds of things that matter, in my opinion, and thank you Liz, for sharing your happiness and positive energy with us! This IS what it's all about!

Embrace it Liz! It's all yours! I am sooooo happy that happened for you!!!

I just came home after having an incredible weekend in Las Vegas. I think I will have a yearly tradition of going to Las Vegas to see Jimmy, because it is so fun, and it is so special. However, nothing could have prepared me for one of the most awesome moments in my life that happened in Margaritaville on Friday.
I landed in Las Vegas on Thursday, May 14, and when I landed in Las Vegas I was running on fumes after getting very little sleep the night before. I went to the Donnye and Marie Osmond show at the Flamingo Thursday night, and I had a wonderful time. However, after the show was over my plans for hitting the casino went out the window, and I dragged my overly tired jet lagged self to bed.
I had every intention of getting up at 08:00 a.m. on Friday morning, but I woke up at 10:00 a.m. to the sound of Sammie whining and jumping on me begging me to get up and take her outside. I decided that it was too late for breakfast so I might as well get myself together, take care of Sammie, and then head on over to Margaritaville for a nice long lunch, a perfect margarita or two, and then shopping in the retail store. When I made my way to Margaritaville it was crowded, but I did not give it a thought because the Las Vegas Margaritaville is usually very crowded. A manager came over to me and explained to me very casually that the reason it was so crowded was because Jimmy Buffett was in the building, and he had just walked past me.
While I was sitting at my table drinking the first of my perfect mango margaritas I heard a very familiar voice behind me, and sure enough, it was Jimmy. A few seconds later Jimmy came over to me to say hi, and when he saw my guide dog Sammie he went nuts over her. It was so neat to see his reaction to my beautiful side kick, and Sammie thought he was pretty special as well. After Jimmy was finished petting Sammie I gave him a hug and simply said thank you.
My encounter with Jimmy lasted maybe a minute, but it sure was a wonderful minute. There was so much more that I wanted to say to Jimmy, but I think for that moment in time a simple thank you was enough. Words cannot describe how appreciative I am that Jimmy took the time to say hi to Ms Sammie and I, and this will be something that will be etched in my memory for several lifetimes.
