Who's going to the Shepherds Bush Empire 7-5-09??
Well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a venue rewarded at last, and not long to wait. Yipee.
This is on old theatre that holds about 2,000 over three levels, all standing on the lower floor, and seating and standing on the upper floors, at least three bars I think. It is nice and intimate but no where near as nice as the New Morning in Paris.

I had this back from the venue, it sounds like they will only open the extra levels as they sell tickets.
Hi David,
If all levels are open it can hold a maximum capacity for 2000 people.
We are right in between O’Neil’s and walkabout pubs.
The venue has a stalls area nearest the stage, usually for standing with 3 bars and 3 balcony levels with unreserved seating with a bar on each level.
This is a revue of the walkabout pub, it's a great revue but I think we may find another place to drink!
I'm not remotely picky as to where I drink but this place is the tattered festering rectum of the Shepherds Bush pub scene. If you can ignore the stench coming from the crappers you'll possibly smell the dank stench of desperation to have a "wild night" pervading the place like a smog. You'll get more polite and erudite company if you go over the road and sit with the tramps and winos on the green. You're probably less likely to get soaked in p*** at any rate.
Phrase you're least likely to hear: "I don't need to be drunk to have a good time you know.

Great Venue, can't wait!! Where shall we have the pre show Street Party????
Re: Who's going to the Shepherds Bush Empire 7-5-09??
There is a big park opposite the venue which will be good for a party Im not to sure about bbqs and all that but if we all behave ourselves we should be ok Dont go back in the park afterdark though (im sure you can guess why) and just a bit of advise if your coming from overseas it is illegal to drink on public transport in london(the tube , buses and trains you will get fined or arrested as there are police at most stations during the weekend and this will put a downer on your tripmeuk wrote:Great Venue, can't wait!! We'll be there-provided of course we can get tickets! Anyone got any ideas how long it will be until the tickets go on sale?

We will be there, as long as we can tix.
Good venue, iffy area. Husband used to be a police officer round these parts.

We will be there and have already booked seats on the coach to East Midlands changing to the train direct to St Pancras. We cannot believe the price £2 each person for return tickets. Anyone else wanting to get there cheaply look at Megabus.peterb wrote:We'll be there, booked our flights this morning

In France at the moment but all prepared to be back on the island well in advance of the show. Will get the train up to London from Portsmouth - have you booked a hotel?
Take care

It will be so nice to meet see you again. We have not booked hotel yet as waiting to get tickets for the show first. Dropped a clanger with the Las Vegas show this October as booked flights and hotel and now all dates for October are taken off. Hotels in London look quite expensive and the one we have stayed in before is fully booked. Our son is coming with us this year. He is not a Buffett fan but we may make him a Parrot Head yet. Think Jimmy may be coming around this time so he can go to Wimbledon!no shoes wrote:Looking forward to seeing you again.....Yorkshire Parrothead wrote:We will be there and have already booked seats on the coach to East Midlands changing to the train direct to St Pancras. I'm not totally convinced this show is happening. Jimmy's an Obama supporter. Why would he play a venue with the words "Bush Empire" in its name? I think he's just f'n with everybody's heads.
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here

I did think about the Wimbledon thing but I am sure its a few weeks earlier in June. Remember it has to be when the strawberries are at their best.....
My only memories of my trip there with the school was how much strawberries and cream we managed to eat !!

Your probably right about Wimbledon. He was over at the same time last year and made an appearance with Jack Johnson in Hyde ParkYorkshire Parrothead wrote:This year Wimbledon is from 22nd June to 5th July. Jimmy could be there!!!

You are right difficult call, without wanting to upset all my friends in the US I thought that us British would be able to work the date out while if I reversed it?Snowparrot wrote:How can you call that date 7-05-09! After all I know why the baseball world series is so named when no other teams but those in North America play, while most North Americans don't.

I wanna come to England!!!!!!!
Tom got totally excited when I told him about this show.. But I think it's coming up too fast for us to plan on coming...
Will somebody shoot me some info about the area? you know....hotels, transportation, etc. I don't even know where it is! Then I can check it out....
Not saying we are coming..... just saying......

We are half way between London and the south coast and the trains run all night so we will probably come home.
