DID SOMEONE MIX UP DELIVERY OF THE SHEET MUSIC ENVELOPES?

Post by LI BANANA REPUBLICS »

Wanderingtoes did a post on the Zack Brown Band new cd " The Foundation "
Check out on Amazon the two cuts of Toes and WHERE THE BOAT LEAVES FROM.

These two songs were made for Jimmy! They would be great new additions to the nightly set list and surely become Buffett standards.

Who could have mixed up the sheet music envelopes and sent Jimmy " Surfing In a Hurricane? " and " Alot To Drink About. "

Parrotheads like the new songs because they are new material from Jimmy and with a few Landsharks in you, anything sounds great! Do they have staying power? If you reply yes, you must be the Parrothead in the tailgate parking lot singing " Everybody's On the Phone " or " Party at the End Of The World! "

These two new Zack Brown songs should be added to the setlist as cover songs and pull " Yellow Submarine." Both Brown Eyed Girl and Southern Cross were covered by Jimmy and became standards.

If you can't write it, cover it! Give it a try Jimmy. They fit your style!

"Yellow Submarine" is a superior song to cover, and if anything he should drop "Brown Eyed Girl" immediately.

actually, "Party at the End of the World" was better than "We're Still Here". But then, Jimmy choking on a phlegm ball for a second after a 2 minute coughing jag would sound better than the latter.

I did not think Yellow Submarine worked in Tampa, of all the songs in all the world

Maybe I'm just odd. OK, I am, but I digress. When I go to a Jimmy Buffett concert I like to hear Jimmy Buffett songs. If I wanted to hear Zack Brown Band songs I'd go to one of their concerts.

ok so you're odd and not the only one sick of covers.

When was the last cd released that had a majority of "new" music that you actually enjoyed? Someone asked me that question the other day and I really had to think.

OK, so we would all like to have more original Jimmy songs - both on CDs and in concert.
But if he has to do cover songs, he should add Alan Jackson's "Laid Back 'n Low Key."

I think the point she was trying to make was how many of those were "new" recordings and not covers? The majority of songs on TTWWY and Jimmy's songs on the Hoot soundtrack were covers.

Take The Weather With You - Jimmy co-wrote 5 of 15 songs and 2 of them, Everybody's On The Phone and Party At The End Of The World, are probably the 2 worst songs on the album

License To Chill - Jimmy wrote, or co-wrote, 5 of 16 songs

Far Side Of The World - Jimmy co-wrote 7 of 12 songs but 2 of them were Hokey Pokey and Altered Boy, awful pieces of crap

Hoot soundtrack - Jimmy sang 5 of 12 songs but Floridays is the only one he wrote and that was 20 years old when the movie came out

I will never ever understand.

Apparently you think Jimmy is a money-grubbing ass hole who can't write worth a s*** any more, songs or books (from my memory of your opinions in previous threads), who plays too many cover songs, who sells crappy beverages, and who lost focus on what his life, to suit you, should be about... the music.

Why the hell are you still around???? Why do you still go to numerous concerts every year? It's not that hard to walk away.

I'm sorry, but I just don't see Jimmy going back to the 70's or 80's just to please you. Get out of the past... either deal with it or don't, but please stop ragging on every breath he takes.

I give Jimmy even more credit for his 40-whatever years longevity in the business, under heavy scrutiny the whole ride. He can't please everyone, so he's got to please himself!

I was merely pointing out that the albums you said you liked contained little, or no, "new music". I'm sorry if that point went over your head, I'll use smaller words next time if it'll help.

If it's a choice between a) no new music at all and b) Jimmy recording either songs others wrote for him or carefully selected covers, I'll take "b"... The guy's written over 30 albums worth of songs. I'm okay with it if he wants to scale back his writing. Some of the biggest stars in the music business write little to none of their own songs (George Strait, for example).

I know people will debate this point, but IMHO just because JB didn't write it doesn't mean it's a cover. It's a cover if somone else wrote it and already recorded it. "It's My Job" is a cover. I don't consider "Trip Around the Sun" to be a cover. As far as I know, it was written for Jimmy, not previously recorded.

Covers that Jimmy makes his own are great fun. :"Rhumba Man", for instance. Or "Nothing But A Breeze".

I'd rather Jimmy keep recording even if he's not writing as much....

Is it really necessary to turn yet another thread into a bash-fest?? :-? :-?

Can't we just "discuss"?

I used to come here to have fun, discuss mutually interesting topics and chill out. This crap is not fun... We can't seem to express opposing viewpoints without insults and mud-slinging... Sh*t......

<<--- Seriously discouraged. :-? :-? :-?

To me, 'new music' is music that he hadn't previously released, so they were mostly all 'new music' to me. I guess I was mistaken in thinking 'new' as opposed to compilations or concert releases. Those were the latest new releases that popped in my mind from this millenium, all of which I liked.

To answer "When was the last cd released that had a majority of "new" music that you actually enjoyed? Someone asked me that question the other day and I really had to think" based on your definition, I guess I would really have to think too. Actually, I'd have to reference the BN discography, and research who wrote what, because I don't have a clue. I listen, and if I like it, I listen a lot, and if I don't, I don't.

Might you answer my questions of you now?

when I sit in a dark room I try to find a light switch or at least a candle. I know I can sit there and just call out to the world that the room is dark over and over until my voice is hoarse, but I also know that doing so will not make the room any lighter.
Take me for what I am, a star newly emerging.
I accept the new found man, and I set the twilight reeling.
