BTW Feesh??? Chris Ledoux was taken from us way too early , but with over 500 concerts under my Belt He was the best show..
ever...... IMHO..
also if he gets to FLA.. or you get to Texas.. Try Roger Creager..
Roger Creager's great.
I used to be involved in rodeo and before he became famous, Chris LeDoux would come in every now and then with his band and play. I got to meet him a couple of times when he would hang out after the show. He was very good about making sure that every hand got shaken and every autograph got signed. Extremely nice guy. I wasn't always a fan of his music, but I was a huge fan of him, personally. The world could use a lot more Chris LeDoux's and I miss him.

OK first.. Buffett?? he ain't.. right..
second.. a great high energy show.. the band was having a great time onstage..
(they mentioned that they stayed two days in Boise, Floated the river and
hit the downtown)
I knew most of the words to every song.. He is no Buffett (which I had no worries about anyway)
but IMHO?? B+ solid show, GREAT open acts.. good sound..
I was sitting next to the young lady (not my date) that threw her bra onstage..

a good time..

OK after just a little reflection.. I have my Take..
Kenny= in it for the Big show.. He does not love the songs. He loves the fan noise..
the Bras onstage and the whole enchilada.. but not the songs.. Way to a Means..
Jimmy= still loves (most) of the songs.. He thrives on Our antics
Some of the songs we get to hear on Radio Margaritaville He would sing
if it were Him and a glass of wine on a barstool.. the Fan noise is great
but He would rather see us in our (or maybe AT Our) Parrothead best
With Jimmy it's still the song..
With Kenny it's the Rush of the show..
as said before.. Bananas and Mangos.

Pretty much, definetly not as early and with less decoration.

But 20-odd years ago JB tailgates weren't as early or as decorated. People *sat* at JB concerts... The whole PH thing was in its infancy. It evolved. KC's fans will evolve, too, no doubt. The party will get bigger, and earlier.

I'd respectfully disagree... I do think KC's more about the BIG SHOW than JB but I think it's *in addition to* the song rather than *instead of* the song. KC still writes some deep songs, and having seen his show and listened to interviews he's given I still think a really large part of it is still about the song.

But we llike bigger & earlier. As a matter of fact, the earlier, the better for us. Maybe we'll have to start going & show 'em how to do it up right.

k c...came to the bay area over the weekend. he played at ...a t t park...the giants home park. sugarland was supposed to open for him after miranda lambert and lady antebellum. it was announced in the early afternoon that sugarland had cancelled out. seems they had time between shows to get some studio time in. jennifer nettles lost her voice during this time. anyway, ...k c ...only played 90 minutes. mac sat in with the band and got to sing 2 songs that he has written for k c.

I agree Tommy!! The Chesney shows i've been to were lots of fun! Zac Brown Band sings about the beach and they are considered country....but they play the Bonnaroo festival which is mostly jam bands......I dont consider them wannabes...

I will also have to agree w/ both of you. Just went to the Chesney show in Tallahassee on Friday. Great show and lots of energy. Here are a few differences I saw:
1. Tailgating was no where near like Buffett. When Jimmy came here in 2007, they shut down the parking lot at 10:00am because it was filled. This time, it was pretty close to full, but was open the whole time. It was a much younger crowd that didn't know how to really tailgate. We were set up under a tree w/ our 20 foot tent, wading pool, generator, fans, grill, flags, music, etc while the college kids were sitting in the middle of the black top w/ no shade, a fold up table and a couple of fold up chairs (that's it). Oh well, hopefully they will learn the real skills of tailgating while in college.
2. Now, while I will always choose going to see Jimmy over Kenny, Chesney's concert was very entertaining, lots of energy. His interaction with the crowd was much more than I ever see at Jimmy's concert and he seemed to feed off their energy.
3. Kenny also sang some cover songs, just like Jimmy, but, to me, they seemed a lot more energetic and fun. Instead of Yellow Submarine, Brown Eyed Girl and Southern Cross, Kenny sang Steve Miller's "The Joker" w/ Marley's "Three Little Birds", Joe Walsh's "Rocky Mountain Way" and "Blister in the Sun".
It looks like we will be adding the Chesney concert to our yearly list of concerts to go to.

thank you because that was my thoughts exactly as I read this. A billion years ago when I started to see Buffett, you could still get tickets the day of the show by just walking up to the ticket counter and buying them. (shocking, I know, but it did happen back in the day...) Some folks dressed up, and tailgating started about 4 ish or so, folks would leave work an hour or so early to get there. Just as JB concerts have evolved, so will Kenny's if he continues as he is now. Is he "the replacement"? Depends on what you are looking for. Is his mimicking of JB any more offensive than what Buffett has done as he covers songs and borrows and takes from artists that inspire him? Kenny's lyrics are taking on their own style, as is he. Just keep in mind that if all these "Chesney Heads" believe us Parrotheads do it better, than next year's tickets will be even harder to find as the Chesney Heads buy them up just to see what all the fuss is about.

Buffett's Buffett, Chesney's Chesney. Like them both, like one of them, like neither of them. At the end of the day who really gives a s***?
