Any of you ever seen this guy in person? He was in Charleston for Spoleto and my plans to see him were altered. Oh well. I talked to someone who went said he was amazing. Said he could make the danged uke sound like a violin or a piano. I'm sure you Hawaii PHs know about him. Good audio on the website.
Every day you wake up you get another chance to do it right.

He played the Newport Folks Festival in 2008 as a solo act and then played with JB for the big show. He really is amazing.

I can say that Jake is one of the nicest, most down to earth people you can meet. My wife and I had the extreme pleasure of meeting him after sound check at the Beachcomber and he was very nice. He took time to pose for a picture and even held the bag while we dug for the camera! Spent about 5 minutes talking to him and his manager about music, his tour dates and he even asked us where we were from. Told him I was one of the Landshark winners and got a fist bump!! He even gave us a couple of aloha waves that night from the stage.
We blew up the picture and sent it in to him. He took time to sign it and send it back to us.
As far as his music, he is incredibly talented. The sounds he gets out of a uke and 4 strings is amazing.

I have had the pleasure of seeing him as a soloist 3 times and 6 or 7 times with Jimmy and I've even gotten to chat with him a couple of times. He is a great talent, a fun performer and seems to be an extremely nice, level headed, down to earth guy. If you get the chance, go see him perform.

The first time I saw Jake was at Jimmy's concert at PNC Park in Pittsburgh a few years ago which actually made me decide to learn how to play the ukulele. I was also able to see him at the University of Akron this year which was absolutely amazing.

Great show in Vegas year before last... What a talent!!!!!
Re: http://jakeshimabukuro.com/
I have seen him perform solo as well as with JB & The CRB.
I would go see him again for sure. Great show, good time. My only complaint is that he didn’t play any longer than he did.
If you get a chance to see Jake, see him.

I should have known you were in the house that night. I drove back to SLC after the show. It was the only way I could get back in time for work on the 5th.ragtopW wrote:a great show I road tripped to Idaho Falls.. (4 hours)

Re: http://jakeshimabukuro.com/
All of the above responses are right on.
We first saw Jake in Indy with Jimmy a few years back and then had a chance to go to his private show at the Beachcomber in February and it was a great time. We talked to Jake after the show and as everyone else has said he is a great person and performer. He is very down to earth. It is amazing to see what he can do with a ukulele.
I can't wait to see him again in Indy this year and would gladly take a road trip to see him.

The next time you get mad, ask yourself the following question. Will it will matter a year from now?
If it won't, breathe in, breathe out and move on. Life is short, remember to have fun along the way.

Re: http://jakeshimabukuro.com/
He played here last week and brought in two amazing musicians to back him up. Noel Okimoto (drums) and Dean Taba (bass) are two of the best I've ever seen on their instruments. The three of them were ridiculous together. I've seen Jake many times but nothing like last week. The crowd was exhausted when he wrapped up a near 2 hour show. As good as he is on stage, everyone is exactly right about him off stage. He does anything and everything he can to take care of his fans. We need more Jake's in this world.
