Finding Ilo
By Bill Flanagan

So Jimmy Buffett walks into a bar…
Oooooo, shame on Bonnaroo.... Couldn't they just have linked to Margaritaville.com instead of just lifting the content wholesale and adding it to their site? :-?

http://www.margaritaville.com/index.php ... s&n_id=583
How do we know Margaritaville didn't get it from Bonnaroo?

How do we know that Bonnaroo didn't get permission from Margaritaville?

In other words -that's a pretty big assumption.
It's been posted on M'Ville for a couple of years....

Bonnaroo might have had permission, no telling, but courtesy usually dictates posting the source, just like Tiki referenced the source when she posted it here....
My bad - my brain somehow read the date wrong, I'm guessing it was the lack of sleep. However didn't Bonnaroo cite the source by giving credit to the person that wrote the story, Bill Flanagan?
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.

Jimmy Buffett throws up his hands during his set with Ilo and Coral Reefers AllStars at Bonnaroo.
MANCHESTER, TN - Bonnaroo officials only announced Jimmy Buffett's arrival the week before the festival kicked off. Even on Thursday, the buzz through camp was about Buffet.

He opened his show at noon today on the "Which Stage" as the crowd went crazy. There was no sign of rain in the sky, and Buffett - a notable beach and island man - said, "We definitely brought the weather."

Buffett discovered Ilo Ferreira and the Coral Reefer AllStars while visiting Cape Verde with friends and the band was announced in the Bonnaroo line-up early on. Buffett was tacked on months later.

Fans danced and sang along to Buffett's happy-go-lucky island songs and raised their hands above their heads imitating a shark for Buffett's "Fins."

He sang "Brown Eyed Girl" and closed with "Margaritaville" as the hundreds of fans cheered, not minding the heat and sun.

MANCHESTER, Tenn. – The eighth annual Bonnaroo Music Festival got under way Thursday with stormy weather, but it did little to dampen enthusiasm as music's favorite beach bum unexpectedly joined the lineup.

One act, the San Diego rock band Delta Spirit, had their set postponed several hours because of weather-related travel difficulties. But the festival announced a late addition so identified with sunny weather that he would seem a hopeful good luck charm: Jimmy Buffett.

Buffett, who started his career in Nashville before finding his musical path in the Florida Keys, was scheduled to play Saturday, joining Ilo and the Coral Reefer All-Stars, a group led by a friend of Buffett's: guitarist Ilo Ferreira.

That must have been some Buffet if there was buzz about it since Thursday! I bet it included crab legs - people around here go coocoo over those!

That's pretty crazy ironic that the band Jimmy discovered in Cape Verde with Ilo has the words "Coral Reefer" in it too! Talk about serendipity!

I'm apparantly getting more anal in my old age, but come on!! Research people, research!   :D

Oop, and one more... what a thrill that must have been to have hundreds of fans cheering for those songs, not minding the heat and sun, because that's never happened before!

I'm sorry... my sarcasm isn't very nice... I shouldn't be up this late past my bed time.

I think he was first introduced at the Foxborough Buffett show up here in 2007.... or at least that is the first time I heard of Ilo.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!
