Any insight to the Paris show? Trying to decide if I should
go to the show or take a trip to the Caribbean and live the lifestyle instead. Wife and I are debating attending the show in Paris or taking a beach trip. We have seen him in Atlanta this year and have tickets for the Nissan show and will also be heading to the Charlottesville show at my alma mater UVA. Any insight to how different this show will be from his regular shows we have seen? Trying to see if this is one of those once in a lifetime can't be missed events. Thanks for the help from a newbie here.

Thats a very difficult question to answer on behalf of someone else!
The shows at the New Morning (2007/2008) definately fell into the 'you had to be there' category, but none of us know how this years venue La Cigale will compare. I think most feel as I do - that the bigger venue wont feel so personal. However if you have never visited europe or Paris in particular, it is definately a city you should see at least once in your lifetime........
PS Just do not under estimate how expensive it can be........
Bonne chance!

This would be my 3rd trip to Paris and 2nd for the wife. It is my favorite city in the world. From what I understand this venue seats around 1000 people. typically we see him in a large outdoor venue where we are in a big group on the lawn. So this will definitely be much more intimate than any of our other shows but not sure what the vibe will be like in a theater setting as La Cigale appears to be. Saw the video from the last shot in Paris which looks incredible. Curious to how this would be. Seems as the best chance to see him with less than 15,000 of my closest friends I may have short of getting lucky enough to be in a margaritaville one day and hoping he walks in.

You seem to have a very balanced view of why you would like to be there - it makes me think the show would suit you down to the ground. So unless you can make it to London in a couple of weeks, Paris should be the next nearest to your 'dream'.aaronwargo wrote:This would be my 3rd trip to Paris and 2nd for the wife. By the way - all 3 shows in Paris were just amazing

We have been to every one of his shows in Paris and at the New Morning it was fantastic. Last year even managed to speak to Jimmy in the street. The first year her mingled with people in the queue. Where do you find this at other shows? It was better than seeing him in Vegas. I am sure that this year the new venue will be just as good. One show not to be missed and you never know if we are very very lucky he may play the New Morning. Or we can live in hope.

How many people does the La Cigale hold? I just purchased 3 tickets recently and was just wondering.

I am still holding back to see if he plays the New Morning.
If seeing Jimmy is the reason you go to a concert then Paris may be for you,you will be able to see him rather than a video screen. If you like the whole pre show tailgate you won't find it in Paris or London, you will still have a good time.
Unlike the others who were on the floor close to the stage (yes I could see you) I was upstairs to the side and the sound was poor. if you have tickets for Paris make sure you are dead centre as the venue is similar to London, or hope the sound guys are not the same.
I have vacation time booked for October, was going to Vegas but I think I am going to take my lady to either the Carebean or the Far East, a Bufett free holiday for a change!
What ever you do enjoy.
Oh did I tell you I had a cuddle from Paula Abdul

Obviously the answer is go to St. Barts for the November show!!!! Then you get both Beach and Buffett.
Search Expedia for hotels and you'll find Manapany cottages and spa for that weekend at 282 per night. Bout the lowest you'll find on the beach. I've read some bad reviews about the place but they've been from 3-4 years ago and it looks like there has been a lot of work done to it recently. Either way, I can guarantee I've stayed in worse in europe.. Book on expedia though as its cheaper than the hotels site site.

But everyone is right. Paris a great place and would be cool for a show. Airfare will run you about $600-$800 from NYC. Nice hotel can be as low as 150 euros a night. Sheraton, Le Meridien etc. Check www.spg.com and you should see a good selection.

Thats not true at all. I think people are generally ruder in Europe then America, but its not directed towards americans in any way. Actually once they realize your American and not British they are much nicer. I have to go to Paris for work 4-5 times a year and I can't recall a time that stands out where any one was seriously negative to me.
Speaking with my French Co workers, when it really comes down to it seems they're a bit envious of America. Every French person I know who has lived in the US was really bummed when the company brought them back to France.
If you want to have a great experience, go out to Normandy. To this day they love Americans and will stop you on the street to talk to you.
