Jimmy's opening acts

Post by spadilly »

a few quick questions for some of you who have seen jimmy several times...

how long has it been since he last had an opening act of tour, and who are some of the people/bands that have opened for him?

im assuming its been a while since he has taken a supporting act on the road with him

thanks...

Jimmy does not usually have an opening act with him for the entire tour. Usually he includes an opening act based on that act's availability.

The above having been said here are some of the opening acts that appeared at various Jimmy shows:

Fingers and the Lady Fingers Review - Fingers Taylor and the Referettes- 1991 tour
Evangeline - Jimmy joined them for the last two songs at GreatWoods in 1992
Jake Shimabukuro - 2005
Toots and the Mytalls - Gillette 2007
Club Trini - GreatWoods parking lot 1999

Before Evangeline (I think), it was the Iguanas . IIRC, they were on the main stage one year, and a side stage the next. (at Meriweather)

In Houston at Minute Maid Park in 2007, Robert Earl Keen opened for JB.
It was cool, but Jimmy doesn't need any opening act. He's great all by himself!!

Didn't Marshall Chapman open for Jimmy during the Domino College tour--the Alpine concert was my first ever, and I seem to remember that.

The Lady Fingers Review did not feature the Reeferettes...it featured all females blues musicians--Debbie Davis, Janiva Magnus and others. They were really good.

He has also had....believe it or not FATS DOMINO open for him, Michael McDonald, Little Richard and Buckwheat Zydeco!

G-Love and Special Sauce opened June 14 2008 in Philly. Tomorrow we're expecting Jake Shimabukuro to sit in on at least a few songs, but not open.

If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

I saw Livingston Taylor open up at Meriwether in 1980.
Also, the Neville Brothers at Jones Beach in hell, I don't remember what year.
Late 80's or early 90's.
