I haven't started a topic in so long. When I first joined BN, I think I started many more topics than I do these days. But, after reading the surgery music thread, an idea occurred to me.
I heard Buffett playing in a swanky golf course clubhouse cafe a couple of years ago. That was really wierd. (As a side note, I also heard Tangy Margarita by The Boat Drunks while shopping in a supermarket near my home. It's not a local home-owned one, either; it's a big, nationwide chain.)
What is the strangest place (besides surgery ) that you've heard Jimmy Buffett's music playing? In a doctor's waiting room? A hotel lobby? An elevator? Your mother-in-law's bathroom? Where?
Church! at our wedding rehearsal my priest saw that my wife was a little frazzled so he thought he would lighten up her mood a little, so when she walked down the asile he had Piece of Work playing... It did the trick. Thanx Father Tom.
I'm growing older but not up!

Not really a strange place I guess, but a couple of my co-workers and myself were walking down to Spec's for lunch one day and Margaritaville was being blasted from speakers in front of one of the buildings here downtown. One of my co-workers looked at me and said 'Hey...isn't that your song?'
H.E.B. in Waco has been playing the "Live in Anguilla" DVD, everyday for the past four weeks. I think it's kinda nice to see some of our BN phriends on the screen while we're shopping.

You went to Spec's for lunch? Is that Spec's Liquor?

If that's true, KK... I just gotta say....
That's hot.
Yep, Spec's Liquor, that would be the one. Have you ever been to the Spec's Warehouse here on Smith St. in downtown Houston? They have a wonderful deli, yummmmmmmy food. It's only about 6 blocks from the Continental building, so I go there quite often for lunch.
The deli is in the back of the store. You order, go browse the rum, tequila, and beer aisles (and/or whatever else you want to check out), take advantage of all the yummmy samples, pay for your meal and find a table at the front of the store and they bring it out to you. Definitely one of my favorite lunch spots.
The strangest place, bar none.... not sure it will ever be topped (for me personally): sitting in a Mexican restaurant in a Muslim country listening to a Fillipino band playing/singing "Margaritaville"...

I remember being in either a Wal-Mart or a Target once, and the "Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays" version of "Brown Eyed Girl" was playing. You'd think they would have played Van Morrison's original or something...

I used to manage a Walgreens and "Mexico" and "Take Another Road" were on regular rotation on the canned music program we had there. There was a third song, too, but I can't remember what it was.

At Dow Chemical Company. We had an at work safety picnic on the lawn of my building. They had set up a bunch of safety related displays and were playing music. There were a couple hundred people there.
They played 5 O'Clock Somewhere
I wonder how many people thought about leaving and going to the bar around the corner...,

Cruising to Alaska...on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Rhapsody, in the Windjammer Cafe...our first visit to the buffet, and they played Jimmy's Boat Drinks!
