Heck yeah! I will play this thing a ton. As I mentioned, I also have the dreadnought version that is the same as Jimmy's stage guitar and it gets played all the time. It can still be collector piece while getting its use. I had one guitar that was too nice too play...I sold it. I would never buy one that I wouldn't play. Whether it will stay in "mint condition" is another story. I take care of my stuff, but the inevtiable is bound to happen.Bicycle Bill wrote:Not trying to rain on anybody's parade, but do these actually get played? Or are they just put away, never to make the music for which any instrument is created?
Of course, I meant pics, or pix, as opposed to picks. But speaking of picks, do you have any Jimmy Buffett picks to go with your guitars?Tiki Bar wrote:And thank you for sharing your excitement, and the great picks. I'm very happy for you!

Mine is a "house player"..Bicycle Bill wrote:Beautiful instruments indeed.

Never could see the appeal of a "limited edition" anything, be it a guitar, a car, a bicycle, or a Holiday Barbie. Cars are meant to be driven, bikes are meant to be ridden, dolls are meant to be played with (and loved, as any little girl will tell you), and musical instruments are meant to be played. Only after it has lived a long and full life and played out its mission should something perhaps be retired and given special treatment, but then it is because it has earned that honor; not just because someone arbitrarily and intentionally decided to create a "collector's item".
Having said that, I did honorably retire my Trek touring bicycle a few years back. After almost thirty years and a conservatively-estimated 40K miles under her wheels, she had earned it. And despite the fact that by now, she might even be considered potentially a collectible, I will still bring her out on occasion and put a few more miles on her just for old times' sake.
