How very clever of RUM1 to join the board over 8 months ago, make 13 posts over the months, mostly in the boatdrinks forum and now sneak in a link to a virus. Very devious

For whatever it's worth.....
I went to the site after reading the offer on Monday. I got the address. I've sent for the sticker.
My anti-virus software (and I've got a good one installed) will alert me if anything I download or visit is infected or a potential risk. It didn't make so much as a peep.
It's now early Thursday AM, and my computer is running just fine, thank you.
Once it gets here, I going to put the sticker on my file cabinet. Unless doing that is somehow going to load a virus into my computer (by osmosis, maybe?), I'm pretty sure nothing bad is going to happen.
IMNSHO, this one is on the level.

My point was that I do not click links from someone I don't know. No matter how good your AV software is, there is somehow out there trying to crack it. I dont think that last statement makes me paranoid, just extremely cautious.

I do not take offense to you finding my behavior objectionable because I based my statement upon the fact that a great number of viruses have been spread using this same tactic: "Click here to get something ABSOLUTELY free". It is true that I cannot name one instance where RUM1 did this, however, there is documented evidence where this exact TYPE of offer has lead to unfortunate consequences many times. So, yes, I do follow such a policy, and I feel my objectionable behavior is well grounded.
I also feel that you have a right to express your feelings, so I thank you, and I am sure RUM1 thanks you, for your concern.

I didn't click for the same fear that Y-NO had. When you consider those of us that have been around enough can recall CoBO being hacked, this site being hacked and have had viruses or spyware attack our computers it is understandable to be leary of free offers.

I generally don't click on the posted link, but instead I hover the link to learn the URL ...then google the link or the root domain first if I am unfamiliar with source.Only then will I cut/paste/use the link...
