Bob Dylan to release Christmas album?

Post by MonumentBeach »

Dylan is probably one of the last people I would have expected to do a holiday album...yet the rumors are true.

It should be pretty interesting to hear his versions of holiday classics. The nice part is, all the profits go to help feed the hungry for the holidays.

Here is an article...

He's also supposedly going to voice the commands on a GPS.

Neil Diamond released not one but two Christmas albums, and was roundly criticized by the Jewish community because, well because he's Jewish.

Bob Dylan was born and raised in the Jewish faith but seems to have adopted Christianity in the 1980s, and several of those 80s albums contained strong religious references.

And yep, I heard the same thing about Dylan voicing GPS via a satellite system. I'm wondering How Many Roads Must a Man Drive Down before he Revisits Highway 61. With his famous tendency to mumble, navigation-by-Bob could be very tricky.

Christmas In The Heart is Bob Dylan’s 47th album. All of his U.S. royalties from sales of these recordings will be donated to Feeding America, guaranteeing that more than four million meals will be provided to more than 1.4 million people in need in this country during the 2009 holiday season. Bob Dylan is also donating all of his future U.S. royalties from this album to Feeding America in perpetuity. Songs performed by Dylan on this new album include, “Here Comes Santa Claus,” “Winter Wonderland,” “Little Drummer Boy” and “Must Be Santa.”

Feeding America provides low-income individuals and families with the fuel to survive and even thrive. As the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief charity, our network members supply food to more than 25 million Americans each year, including 9 million children and 3 million seniors. Serving the entire United States, more than 200 member food banks supports 63,000 agencies that address hunger in all of its forms. For more information how you can fight hunger in your community and across the country, visit www.feedingamerica.org.

I am almost scared to admit this, BUT I LIKE IT. Minus Dylan's raspy voice, it reminds me of something that Sinatra or Crosby would have released.

Dylan just posted a music video for the tune, Must Be Santa.

Dylan seemed to enjoy making the album and this song in particular. Check it out...

I have heard the album, and to be quite honest. I did not mind it. It's got a quirkiness about it that just sort of makes it work
