Tell him to hit the showers a little more frequently, use soap in the appropriate places, and then start with something 'traditional' and relatively low scent. Personally, I prefer classic-scent 'Old Spice' in the spray form rather than the roll-on. He'll learn about 'Axe', 'TAG', and all the others soon enough.

One thing to remember is that personal body chemistry will change the perceived scent. What smells good coming out of the can may become something entirely different once applied and allowed to 'meld' with one's own natural fragrances.

I go for the Old Spice deodorant.

I have tried using the stuff from the 99 cent store. I believe its Mennen brand, but it does not work for me.

Whatever you get, just make sure it's labeled "anti-perspirant/deodorant" not one or the other.

I used to use Gillette gel, but got good deals on Right Guard recently and that's been working well.

Speaking of deoderant, has anyone found any that will not make a huge ugly place on your shirt? I've bought several that say, "Goes on Clear," and I still tend to get the ugly spot.

If he is 11 the body smell will soon be covered by cigarette smell.

I agree your young man would love AXE Deodorant (NOT ANTI-PERSPIRANT). The Phoenix scent smells great.

My keet uses BAN invisible solid.

FGS, don't let him use that AXE garbage, one of his friends uses that and it's like being in a bad disco or something back in the 80s.

Of course regular showers, with soap, are key. The first few days my keet first started using deoderant I couldn't figure out why he still seemed a little, um, ripe. So I asked him if he was using it and he said sure, he always puts it on after practice or his game. I had to explain to him that it prevents BO, not gets rid of it.

Old Spice Deodorant is what I use. Still the best after all these years...

What is this ‘soap’ you are talking about?

(Yes, I am an overgrown 10 year old.)
