Nassau/Paradise Island Bars
We are headed over to Nassau via The Monarch of the Seas in November. We've been there several times but we have never done a pub crawl in the afternoon or evening. We have done Conch Fritters Cafe and Senor Frogs too many times. We would like to visit the Hurricane Hole bar as mentioned by Jimmy when he introduced "Perrier Blues". Has anyone been there? Is it worth the time? Also, we understand there is another water front bar on the the Nassau side of the bridge that connects with Paradise Island. Can anyone give a name and exact location? We are open to any advice regarding some fun drinking establishments where we can spend a few hours before boarding the ship and departing at 11PM. Thanks!
Re: Nassau/Paradise Island Bars
Many years ago we enjoyed The Poop Deck. It was the best cracked conch and rice and peas I've ever had.

We're heading there again next year.

Re: Nassau/Paradise Island Bars
The outdoor bar at Hurricane Hole Marina is called The Green Parrot. It's a gazebo bar just off the right side of the bridge as it lands on Paradise Island. I can vouch for Fridays being busy as it's one of the off duty nights for several of the live aboard dive charters in the area. I used to hang out there along with other crew members and some of the locals working in the area. A great time.
Don't forget to go to Potter's Cay at the foot of the bridge on the Nassau side. It's where all the locals go for fresh seafood and is a great place to try to local foods. Lots of small shacks set up serving every kind of Bahamian dish. It might look like a bit of a rough place at first glance, but you'll have a great time. I miss it.

Now I've got a terminal daydream,
That's something you'll never know
I keep it right here in my backpack, mon
And I take it wherever I go.

Re: Nassau/Paradise Island Bars
I just remembered a place called Hammerheads, located at the Nassau end of the Paradise Island/Nassau bridge.
Thank you all for your recommendations. We'll begin our day with a shark dive with Stuart's Cove. After lunch we'll be doing The Green Parrot at the Hurricane Hole Marina and then head back over to Potter's Cay and then Hammerheads before we head back to the ship.

Re: Nassau/Paradise Island Bars
Just a quick update from our trip to Nassau. We had a blast in Orlando with the 'keets before the cruise. We did Universal, Islands of Adventure, Margaritaville at City Walk and had dinner at Friday's. The cruise was very nice. The Monarch of the Seas is a older ship in the RCCL fleet, but well maintained with an excellent staff. While we were in Nassau, we ended up going to The Hurricane Hole Marina on Paradise Island. We found the Green Parrot Bar. Ritchie was our most gracious bartender. A beautiful sunset, a few cocktails and a nice platter of conch fritters made for a very wonderful night. We also have to recommend Stuart Cove's for their shark dive. You can see the size of the Caribbean Reef sharks from this above water picture.

Only thing missing was JB and the CRB in Orlando Saturday night.

We wanted to share a few pics from our shark dive with Stuart Cove's in Nassau. This is the best $52 excursion you can find! These are from our underwater camera:

Re: Nassau/Paradise Island Bars
Any other recommendations? We're leaving on Thursday night. We haven't been to Nassau in 15 years with the exception of a 8 hour stop on a cruise. We're staying on Paradise Island but I want to avoid the Atlantis at all costs.
Catsaway? Was your dive just divers? Or can you snorkel?

Re: Nassau/Paradise Island Bars
I've dove with Stuarts Cove as well, and they do have snorkel trips and do hotel pick ups.
I'll also second Hammerhead's....in fact I have a funny story about last time I was there...we were staying at the Nassau Yacht Club & Marina as that was where our live aboard dive boat was moored, so we took at taxi into Nassau andd spent the morning sightseeing and the afternoon barhopping, working our way back to the hotel. We got to Hammerheads and met some great locals and had a few more drinks with them (I think I bought everyone on the island a drink that day, I dropped $200 that afternoon and came home with nothing but stories
). We told them we were going to walk the last mile to our hotel, and the bartender asked me if I wanted a drink for the walk home....I can drink on the street?? WOO HOO!!! So I ordered another drink - Capt Morgan and Ginger Ale. We walk out of Hammerheads and there were a couple of guys and one walks up to me and leans in "Want some Coke?" In my druken haze I misunderstood and replied, "No Mon, I prefer Ginger Ale with my Rhum" and we walked away while the guy had this dumbfounded look on his face. My buddy lost it he was laughing so hard and had the hardest time explaining to me what had just happened but when I finally got it we laughed the last mile back to the hotel.
Also, make sure you go to Johnny Canoe's for dinner, they have a Junkaroo band come thru every evening, which is real cool!!! Also, just around the corner from Senor Frogs, close to the Straw Market, every day around noon the local vendors serve hot food out of the back of their cars...if you want to eat like the locals, it's a good choice.
Good luck and enjoy!!!!

Re: Nassau/Paradise Island Bars
We will be stopping in Nassau in late February as part of a cruise. We have never been there before and so many things from this discussion sound like fun. We are not divers and will be going to a private island beach with the cruise the next day, so we don't intend to do anything on the water. Given so many good things, anyone have any suggestions on prioritizing them?

Eat, drink, sleep on the beach, snorkel, drink, drink a little more, eat and then drink....repeat for 2 more days.......
Thanks Chris!

For an authentic, very, very fun time, have dinner at the Fish Fry. Bring some cash....you can take a local bus there, but will have to cab it back, since the buses stop running around 7 pm. Oh, Johnnie Canoe's is closed.
