Buying on E-bay

I was wondering of anyone has ever ordered tickets via e-bay. How did it work out? (FYI, I purchased some tickets, but I want to ensure that they are real before I sell my other (worse) ones). also, if anyone knows how I could verify the tickets, that would be great!
I just remember next to me getting thrown out last year (I don't know if they had e-bay tickets) mid-show becuase someone else had "offical" ticketmaster tickets.
Thanks!

One thing I always do is make sure you buy from someone with a lot of feedback. Make sure all of the feedback is positive. Read some of the feedback and check to see if they've sold tickets before and if the recipients are happy with their purchase. If the seller has very few or no feedback, I would be very careful. Their are other things you can do on ebay, surf around the site, they will tell you what to look for. I don't know how to actually verify the tickets once you get them, sorry. Maybe someone will add this info. Contrary to many of the posters on this board, I think ebay is a great way to buy and sell tickets. You may pay a little more, but you know exactly where you will sit, and hey, JB is worth it!!

unless you are getting a deal that is too good to pass up I would avoid ebay and any other auction site. If you are willing to pay big bucks for a ticket(s) why not go to a legal ticket broker(scalper) where they have an address and real phone number. I'm sure most of the ads on ebay for tickets are legit but I doubt all of them are and it would s*** if you get screwed. The brokers have just as good seats and I would say you could be almost 100% sure they are real tickets since most of them have deals with the venues and sponsors.

I had good luck buying tix off of ebay for the Indy show. Wasn't till after the Great Woods show that I heard about all the fake tickets sold to that concert.
Not sure I would buy off of ebay now... knowing there's people counterfieting the tickets...
Should probably stick with the sellers that have real addresses and phone numbers so you have some recourse if "all is not well".

I had good luck with my tickets for the Chicago concert. The fellow didn't even charge and arm and a leg. (I bought them on "buy it now" and didn't wait for them to get bid up). Always ask the seller if they are obstructed seats. Also helps if they post the location map on the auction. If they aren't a first time seller check feedback as well. Good luck!

Please read my posts for a few tips under "scalpers must hate Springsteen".
eBay is a great way to buy tickets. As stated, look for sellers with a high feedback rating (the number next to their names/ebay ID's). If you have questions, feel free to ask them. Most sellers want positive feedback and will provide much better service than major online or in-person brokers. it's the eBayers who have lowered overall tickets prices by 10-60% and are likely responsible for many tickets being available by sellers/scalpers at the venue (who were asking much more and couldn't sell) . If you aren't prepared to pay the seller a profit or complain, simply don't bid-whatever company or professional you work for marks up their product or service also. Just be aware that most eBayers fudge the ticket costs because: eBay 1) doesn't allow sellers to recover the $9-$10 per ticket surcharges Ticketmaster tack on 2) Creates their own state law which doesn't exist (rules tougher than state law) and 3) charges exorbitant fees ($3.30 to list and $1.25 plus 2.5% of the selling price upon selling). Therefore, ask for a breakdown in tickets price. To blast ticket sellers is a bit hypocritical. Many of the same Parrotheads who complain drink, smoke, have premarital s*x, yada which are a violation of the applied and enforced law and God's word. Let God judge people.
I have made my recommendations for a Parrothead ticket trading/"extras" site under the Springsteen topic.

I just want to add an addendum on eBay here. If you are that worried about fake tickets (by the way that is a big issue on the street at Madison Square Garden as they supposedly have more than a few repeat violators who have been caught selling fake tickets time and time again. Supposedly have pictures on the wall) ask the seller to fax you a copy of the transaction slip from Ticketmaster or a copy of the tickets (sellers may be a bit hesitant to provide exact seat numbers for security reasons) to you. eBay sellers want that positive feedback comment from you as it builds their record. Therefore, they are interested in keeping you happy. By the way one of my clients' checks bounced today to worries work both ways!

Wouldn't it be better if only people that liked the artist and wanted to go to the shows bought tickets to begin with and dirt bags who are looking to make a profit off resale just went and found a real job. If it makes you feel better to call yourself an "ebay seller" that's great but a scalper is scalper no matter how you look at it.

Tampico, maybe if you sat in line for tickets over the years instead of complain you would learn something and no need to post. I learned from others. Maybe you should do the same. You are entitled to your opinion. I used the 11/16 benefit as an oportunity (thoough Jimmy sales) to raise funds of my own for the trust fund of my neighbor's children who's Dad died in the WTC. Those Parrotheads were thrilled with both my service and my idea to raise funds.
You are probably complining but when it is time for sales you are probably sleeping or hung over. Its funny but Attorney General Venerio in New Yorkwas quoted on the frotn page of the New York Post saying ticket laws are outdated and should be abolished. I do trade for shows such as Springsteen and don't sell for such shows.
As for getting a "real job" I will and will be a manager with my three degrees from top graduate schools. Yiu could use my education-I learned how to think and treat people and my 100% feedback rating on eBay reflects that. You won't work for me however because I don't like complainers. I prefer smart, aggessive people. Please tell me who you work for and send an e-mail address so I can ask you for your product or service at cost.
If you follow the advice I provided in my original post you should never need to pay extra for tickets. I paid $1 over once for a sold out basketball game. I've never paid over for a concert in my 20 years of attending shows.

So you are all for brokers and scalpers making deals with promotors, ticketmaster, and arenas to get tickets, tickets that are never offered to the general public, and then resaling them for a profit? also, screw your "100% friendly ebay rating".

No I do not agree with borkers cutting deals with Ticketmaster (never heard of that happening) arenas (does happen)and believe such individuals should be punished. I and most eBay sellers sell only few pairs of tickets for a given show in a given area. I'm not a big broker at all. However, eBay sellers put pressure on these guys by formeing a bigger market. If you don't understand this you haven't taken a economics class in your life and aren't very educated. On eBay buyers pertty much determine the market-and that can be very good for the consumer. For instance,
right now I have a fe pairs of tickets which I will wind up selling at half price and lose hundreds. The performer gets his money, the buyer makes out and I lose (I bet you'll sleep well tonight!).
The fact that you diss great customer service shows just how naive you are. If you treat customers in any business badly you will soon be out of business (unless you have a monopoly).
If you value "morality" so much, why are you a Parrothead? Am I mistaken or didn't Jimmy run an run/deal drugs before he was a performer. By that logic none of us should be Parrotheads! God teaches forgiveness and part of the theme of Jimmy's bod of work is that none of us are perfect and that we should take the gift of life and live it to the fullest. I have never tried illegal drugs, never have touched a cigarette, been tipsy or so maybe twice in my life, among other things. If my worst problem is selling a few tickets for profit whole looking for a job with my degrees, I don't think I'm a big threat to mankind.
I suggest you take your time, rage and energy, use your head and see what you can do about developing a ticket trading forum for Jimmy's 2002 Tour. Many will be greatful and likely someone will always have a ticket for you. Until then please stop complaining.

Look Petey,
You've made your point and your novels are nice reading but get over it. As you can read most people here don't like scalpers/brokers or whatever they are calling themselves this year and having to wait until the day of the show to get good seats is a bunch of BS too. I probably attend more shows a year than the average person and yes I know how to play the game and get the good seats. Do I like it? No but I would rather feed the monster than do without. You can call me a hypocrite if you would like and maybe you are right but I have never sold a ticket to someone and made a profit. I may support the a**holes but I'm not one of them. And please don't throw words around like morality, no one is looking for a sermon. As far as your advise of ticket trading, there's a ticket exchange here and at other sites and this has been up and running for about 3 years now and I have used it and was very pleased with the results. Unfortunately this has also been discovered by scaplers recently and a lot of folks are not using it now. I will give you the last word because this tit for tat is getting stale.

Hi all:
I certainly have strong anti-scalper sentiment. I find it very hard to believe that Pete has never heard of scalpers using back routes into TicketBastard to get prime seats. It's one of the main routes scalpers use to get tickets. Don't believe me? Read the New York State Attorney General's detailed report on scalping, appropriately called "Why Can't I Get Tickets?" It can be found online at http://www.oag.state.ny.us/press/report ... _text.html
Finz up!
Deb.

Tamp and Phin Phan:
The point I am trying to make is that you were blasting my morality while you guys are advocating "live a little" stuff which is often illegal (ditto the tickets if the law is not followed properly). If selling a few pairs of tickets if my worst fault I'm sure I'm not to bad off. Jimmy has some control over the issue and he can do his part if he so desires.
Tamp, you are certainly entitled to your opinion. But Deb, what really irks me here is that yet I have heard of some of these "backdoor methods". They have litterally been published and they were even noted here by some very generous Parrotheads! And Tamp is still whining like a little kid. If he reads the posts he should be pretty much set for life or at least a good while. And still he complains!
Tamp, you don't like people who sell tickets. Point received. However, that is not going to change things. eBay makes a fortune off of tickets sales and other "immoral" things I won't get into. I have had about 100 buyers who are satifsied at worst and thrilled at best. Seem like a win-win to me. I used to be on your side and
myself do not pruchase marked up tickets. For Springsteen's 99-00 tour I traded everything until I ran into a 1-2 individuals who wanted the last show of the tour and begged me to sell them (among others) to them. When I did I undercut the going rate for them by 40-50% and they were thilled (I don't know about you Parrotheads but many of my fellow Springsteen fans
are doctors, lawyers, ailine pilots, managers, yada who can afford a marked up ticket). By the way if I attend Jimmy's 2002 tour will be on the trading board myself and would consider paying above face to a Parrothead who might be selling as his only means of financing his own ticket. As stated the sellign works both ways (especially since September 11th-tomorrow I am selling a pair of tickets for over $87 below cost (and now down over $160 for that given show). You win some and lose some.
Two other short points. Phin I don't need to take drugs, smoke or drink heavily to enjoy life. If you want to do so that's your choice (I could argue as a health adminstrator that you are raising our health care costs which decrease disposable income to purchased the jacked up tickets but Tamp doesn't want to or doesn't comprehend the supply and demand thing anyway) that I enjoy the high from exercising just the same. Got to keep in good enough shape for the beach.
Finally, Deb, it you had read my other posts, (or live in the New York area and read the New York Post), you would have seen a front page story a few months ago in which Mr. Venerio I believe)stated that ticket selling laws are completely outdated and should be abolished! I think some protections are needed, though. I guess Mr. Venerio did his research, though.
Tamp, I agree this topic has been beaten to death and others have provided great solutions to your ticket problem. I came on the board to offer some good advice to a few Parrotheads who do use eBay. I was only trying to help them out. In fact I used the info that Buffett tickts have been counterfitted (by the way very common at MSG in New York) to warn a client or two.
$ee You ;>)

Pete,
I don't use drugs either, never said I did. But I do enjoy a boat drink now and then, especially while listening to Jimmy. All I was trying to do was to get you to lighten up a bit, not suggest you go get yerself high and drunk as a skunk.
See, we Parrotheads are a calm sort and all this bantering back and forth about scalpers and brokers just got me all riled up. I DO agree with one thing that you said..this subject has been beaten to death...so let's put an end to the bashing and get on with our tranquil lives!. Okee dokee? Peace!
