Fort Hood in lockdown after shooting
Posted Thursday, Nov. 05, 2009 Comments

A shooting at Fort Hood prompted the base and nearby schools to order a lockdown, according to news reports.

KCEN-TV in Central Texas said seven people were killed and 12 wounded. The station said there were two suspects in the shootings.

KCEN-TV in Central Texas reported that one person was in custody and one was still at large. It quoted a source as saying that shooter has a high-powered rifle and is aiming to kill.

Killeen ISD says all Fort Hood schools are on lockdown, the news station said. MSNBC also reported the shootings.

A scrolling notice on the base's Web site declared "Organizations/units are instructed to execute a 100 percent accountability of all personnel. This is not a drill. It is an emergency situation."

This story is developing.

Just another story about the same as the other. Very sad and disturbing, sounds like they are still calling in NOT secure.

they are live streaming on some of the news station.
From a press conference a few minutes ago:

12 dead
31 wounded

One killed was a civilian police officer.

The shooter was killed and he was a soldier, two other suspects were apprehended and they also are soldiers.

It was just reported that the female officer who was shot during this incident is now OUT OF SURGERY and recovering.
She reportedly is the one who shot the a-hole.

Garry that's just not right. There are many American soldiers who are of Middle Eastern descent who serve this country proudly. This guy was born in Virginia he is as American as you or me.

Right, and I hope that he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. It seemed to me that you comment alluded that because his name was Middle Eastern that we could expect this kind of act from him. That was an assumption on my part and if it was wrong I certainly apologize. And no I did not know that you were of Middle Eastern descent, you would then understand that stereotypes due more harm than good. I am of Irish decent I would hope no one would assume I would then blow up a federal building like Timothy McVeigh.

You weren't TOTALLY wrong in your assumption.
I was sitting in my dentist's office waiting room today watching TV when the Fox News station broke in with the news.
The first thought that came to my mind was "I'll bet the shooter's name is either Mohammad, Ahmed, or Abdullah."

So I was wrong-it's Malik.
And I hope he's either prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law or assumes room temperature very soon.

You're a great guy, Brad. I mean that.
