I saw an interview with the referee from that game. He vigourously defended the offensive pass interference call that negated Seattle's early TD. However, he said that he still has nightmares about the block call on Hasselbeck during the interception. He said that was a horrible decision and that he went with something he thought he saw there rather than something he knew he saw.

Of course it was a horrible call, just like the pass interference was absolutely horrible, and the phantom holding calls were ridiculous. Its really nothing new though. The NFL has been handing the stealers this garbage for years, it's become so prevalent when playing them that its generally just accepted as part of the game now. Holding calls are absolutely ruining the NFL. On virtually any play they can be called or not called, and the penalty for it is so severe that the decision about whether or not to call holding gives the refs complete ability to control who wins and loses games, and without fail they make those decisions to protect the stealers.

If you watched the second Browns/stealers game this year, pittsburgh goes for it on 4th down, appears to clearly come up short. The refs give them an absurdly advantageous spot, then call for the chains. They show the close up of the measurement and the ball is a good two inches behind the chains. The Browns defense does some high fives and goes running off the field, then the ref inexplicably motions for first down, the chains move, and pittsburgh lines up to run another play. The commentators are dumbfounded. Clearly what happened is the ref spotted the ball where he thought he had to in order to give pittsburgh the first down, then when the chains came out, didn't bother to even look down, why should he, its pittsburgh we'll just give them the first down regardless.

I am curious though as to which of the stealers super bowl wins you consider "legitimate". Was it Arizona one in which the refs were almost as bad as the Seattle one? Or was it one of the 4 in the 1970's that they won by beating the rest of the league into the steroid era by a decade. Sure they won 4 superbowls back then, but now about once a year, we have to hear about one of the stealers from that era being found dead in an alley wearing an aluminum foil hat. Hope all the roids were worth it.

The above comment is from a "typical" Browns fan. It's no wonder why ol' Jimmy doesn't play in Cleveland anymore.

I'm pretty sure Jimmy's touring absence in Cleveland has absolutely nothing to do with the Cleveland Browns.

You're right...I was just reacting to the negativity with some negativity of my own.

Maybe the Browns fans should learn to quit whining and worry about winning. Even the (usually) lowly Bengals are now better than the Browns. Who are the Browns fans gonna blame THAT on? Are the Steelers responsible for that, too??? [smilie=paranoid.gif]

Y'all better pray that Lebron doesn't leave town. If that happens, you're not gonna have much of anything, sports-wise.

I'm not sure how the tour date rumors thread got hijacked into a slam on Cleveland Sports fans. But as a proud Cleveland Sports fan all I really care about right now is...WHEN IS JIMMY BUFFETT COMING TO PITTSBURGH OR CINCINNATI?

This is probably not the answer you want, but...expect concert dates to be announced any day now. By history, the ticket sales usually take place around mid-March.

This lead me to repeat a commonly asked question: where are the three best places to watch Jimmy east of the Mississippi? (I'm asking for the Top Three, since there's a tendency for posters to name their "home venue" as the best. Maybe I'll get less bias this way???) :D

Pittsburgh tickets were always on sale on the same day as the St Patrick's Day parade!

Well I must say Pittsburgh, even though that's my home, because I think it's always great. I had a blast in Manassas/Bristow as well. And I hear that the Boston shows are also a lot of fun.

OK so I live in Boise.. I have no "home" venue
although I seem to be "home" where ever I get to see Jimmy and the Band (thanks to the good graces of BN)

in no order
Alpine
Cinci
chicago (tailgate not venue)
Great woods
MSG (no tailgate but the place has a "feel" to it)

yep I am thinking that those are the only ones I have hit East of the Mississippi

But.. I must say Texas is a great place to see a show.. 8) 8) 8)

Well, most of it has to do with who you are with...

In that case then, Cincinnati, Great Woods, Chicago... :D :D :D :D

I saw Jimmy at Irvine, its a real nice venue, although the tailgate was a bit subdued after years of tailgating in Cincy, Chicago and Pittsburgh - my three favorites.
