This is what I don't understand. I heard this morning that the 787 will get better gas mileage. It's never flown so how do they know what kind of gas mileage it's gonna get?

They have many ways to determine things like that. Testing on the new Engines, the light weight of the plane, etc.

I read that they did a simulated takeoff and even lifted the plane's nose off the ground a couple of days ago.

Looks to be cool and cloudy in Everett today. Imagine that.

Pilot & co-pilot the only two onboard. Could be up to a five-hour test flight.
