Can I copy/save something from YouTube to my computer?

If so, how?

Thanks.

Your pal,

If you use firefox there's a plug in that will let you save it. I'm at work so I can't check to see what it is.

I have FireFox, but mostly use IE.

I'll go check it out! Thanks, Connie! Safe home.

Ummmm....errrrr....when you get home safely, check out your FireFox and then let me know the steps. I might have an older version because I couldn't find an option to save ...

Thanks.

Terry - I have RealPlayer and it allows you to save from youtube to your computer (along with several other devices) as well. But it sounds as though FireFox may have the same capability, so you are probably good with that. :)

I got the one file downloaded - the other one won't play.

And the one I did get downloaded won't go onto my iPod, which was the reason I wanted the file on my computer to begin with.

I used to be teck-savy. Now, I'm just old. :-?

I've got a great bit of adware free software over on one of my other computers that I've used for a few years now. It is great, easy to use and converts youtube video format (a proprietary flash video .FLV format) to MP4 format that can be viewed on iPod Videos. It's easy ... just enter the Youtube video URL and click download/save. best of all, it's free and no adware. I'll post it here when I get over to that computer.

I also found this (but I've never used it). It recommends http://www.keepvid.com, which looks like it will do what you want as well. Try it .....

Thanks, guys. I'll try these.

I found a great Steve Earle interview on Canadian TV - need to use it for the piece I'm doing on him for a series ... It would be nice to have it on my iPod so I can listen to it and get quotes ...

Then, I found a 53:10 solo performance by Townes ... in 1995 ... I really want that one on my iPod for when I need a Townes fix.

Terry if you used download helper for firefox it will convert the video, but it will leave a small logo on it, unless you pay to have it removed. Check out the manual on the link I sent you and it tells you how to install and use the converter.

I downloaded the converter and it worked on the Townes show. I can play it on my Windows, but can't download it to my iPod.

For some reason, the converter didn't work on the Earle interview.

I'll try the other links tonight. I'm just not very good at this stuff. I need a 12-year-old at my house to whiz through the steps and hand me the loaded iPod when he/she's done. 8)

Okay. You helped a lot. Wouldn't have had the program or the converter without your link ... :D

All this stuff has just passed me by. I'm old. [smilie=battingeyes.gif]
