The only time I've been to Poplar Creek (IL) was the Rece$$ion Rece$$ Tour. Anyone else there? That was a fun show. It closed a few years later, although I don't know when. That was the last shed show I saw of JB on tour. He opened with Cuban Crime Of Passion!

That's bizarre. Any other internet sources also refer to it closing after the 1994 season, but Jimmy played there in 1995.

The point is a lot of people believe that wikipedia is correct. So it gets sourced. The whole 'it must be true it's on the internet!' thing... it's terrible. There ARE websites that have correct and accurate information on them that are a true source and not some anyone can post it thing like wikipeadia is.

But that is the advantage of Wiki sites. If Wikipedia (or any of the other wiki-like sites such as the IMDb) are wrong — and you *KNOW* they are wrong and can verify it, like in this case — you can go to Wikipedia and make the correction. Just be sure to provide your verification source, of course.

For example, merely saying "I was there" without any other supporting evidence is rather weak; but if you can show legitimate verification, such as a concert review in the Chicago papers, that Poplar Creek was in operation after the supposed Wikipedia-cited date then the newer, more accurate data must be accepted.

As for the "it's on the Internet so it must be true" mantra, I think that this statement is made only by noobies or people with already-closed minds. That's no different than the pre-internet line of thought that went, "well, it was in the paper so it has to be true". Just as most everybody knows there is a difference between the New York Times and the National Enquirer, so too most anybody who has surfed the 'net for more than a couple weeks knows that there's an awful lot of stuff online that is slanted, inaccurate, or just plain bogus — and just as with newspapers and magazines, you quickly learn which sites can be considered dependable and which ones can not.

I want to say that Domino College played at the World Theater in 1995. I'll see if I have my stubs.

I'm pretty sure the BN venue is incorrect. I am pretty confident it was at the World in 1995, I think I still have the t-shirt, and stubs.

This other site lists 8/4/95 as New World in Tinley Park. Hmm, so if Wikipedia is criticized for sometimes being incorrect, I guess we should clean up our own house at BN. After all, I usually consider BN a pretty definitive source! Now if BN reference material like Set List and Song & Lyrics databases only used wiki-technology so I/we could immediately go correct the information......

I'm just sayin.


EDIT: This 1994 Fruitcakes tour shirt references Hoffman Estates (Poplar Creek location), but nothing I find for 1995 Domino College lists tour date cities.

Poplar Creek was a great place to see Jimmy. The cops didn't chase You to go inside like the world. You were allowed to tail gate.

I had a ticket (not in my hand but available to me - I could not go) for the Chameleon Caravan tour in Chicago. To my understanding and memory, it was at the World...whatever that place was called. Tinely Park.

Is that correct?

Here is how I remember it...

The World Music Theater opened in 1990. I am pretty sure Jimmy played there that first year. He returned to Poplar Creek from 1991-1994. From 1995 to 2004, shows took place at Tinley Park under the different name changes. 2005 Wrigley Field and then back to Tinley for 2006 and 2007.
