sports fans with a year to plan/prepare where would you go

Post by ragtopW »

OK so next October this Pirate will be 50

I want to take myself to a major sports event.
the Biggest event I have been to was a East West Shrine game one year.
the second was an H- Bowl a few years ago
so with the biggest part of a year to think and plan
where would you go??

Depends which sport you like best. Also the issue of the team you like may not be playing at the big event.

Personally, I would eliminate the Super Bowl, just because you've already been to Dallas a few times for an awesome tailgate.

I would also eliminate the World Series just based on cost- Boise is an expensive flight, and why have a year to plan when you'll still end up having to plan everything within a week?

The Sugar Bowl would be my choice, but that's because I'm not a sports fan but am a huge fan of New Orleans.

I said the Rose Bowl, Nikki says to the Stanley Cup. Unless the Giants are in the World Series  Then it's a no-brainer.

Superbowl!!!! Cowboy stadium is freaking amazing. I did a tour in November with RhumChum, Angelbeech, my keet and his g/f. We got the extended tour - getting to see the Cowboy locker room, walking the same path the Boys walk to enter the field through the Miller Light Club. We had our picture taken on the star. As I told my security guard at work when I returned: I've been to the mecca and I stood on the star!!! :D
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.

well I don't golf.. and most likely I will be there alone.. (unless I can get some BNers to meet me there) so the cost of staying near Augusta would sting.
and I went to a golf event once (LPGA) I was in the then young (one was a rookie) ladies gallery.. maybe you have heard of them..
Annika and Kari.. yep they paired together and were having the time of their
lives.. what a great afternoon
8) 8) not sure I could ever match that day..

I have been to the Rose Bowl several times with an uncle of mine, and also to the Super Bowl once with him. He has also been to the Kentucky Derby, World Series, Final Four, and NBA finals and said without hesitation, the Final Four was the most exciting. That would be my choice.

You forgot Paris in July for the final leg of the Tour de France, even though by that time the winners have been determined and it's more of a parade than a race.
VIVE LANCE!!!   ALLEZ TEAM RADIO SHACK!!!

Of the choices offered, though, I'd pick the World Series.
I just wish they played it earlier. It used to be called "The Fall Classic", but games 4, 5, and 6 this past year were all played in November.
In open-air ballparks (a good thing).
In northern cities (not *quite* so good a thing).
