Charleston, SC dining
Hey y'all! I'm going to Kiawah Island next week to entertain some folks from work. I'm looking to take them out for one meal. Everything on Kiawah is SOOOO expensive...I know Charleston isin't cheap but I need something fairly reasonable. Any suggestions? I'd love it of there was something like Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House ( in Savannah).....
There's this one particular harbor.....

If you want really cheap, try the Ye Olde Fashioned Ice Cream Shoppe West Ashley or Melvin's BBQ on James Island. A step up from that, I'd probably go with the Wild Wings downtown on Market St. You can either get wings or build your own burger by picking the sauce you want it marinated in. For moderate seafood, Gilligan's is decent and isn't too bad on the wallet. If you really want good seafood, go to Hymans downtown or The Boathouse on the Isle of Palms. If you want good local oysters and a unique experience, check out Bowens Island out near Folly Beach.

High Cotton is awesome. I dont know what your budget is but dinner entrees are in the $20-30 range. Well worth it.
I know I dont get there often enough but god knows I surely try

My niece worked at Ye Olde Fashioned Ice Cream thru High School...I love that little place....and Shannon? Bowen's Island is worth a trip if they're oyster lovers...I go every time I go home......Everything Bill said is right on target....I wish Freda's was still open , downtown....Old house and they never made it one big place..Different rooms you could sit in...and the owner Gus would walk around and tell you "this isn't gonna taste any better for breakfast...Eat up!"Mr Play wrote:If you want really cheap, try the Ye Olde Fashioned Ice Cream Shoppe West Ashley or Melvin's BBQ on James Island. Fleet Landing has really good food but is kinda pricey. How about Sonic Dog on Highway 17? Great hot dogs and pretty cheap. And Gullah Low Country Cuisine in Mt. Pleasant is kinda like Miss Wilkes.....the food is really really good.....

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

Ooooooh...I forgot about that place. Duh. It opened after I moved to Fernandina, but have eaten there many times, and love it! Great idea!

The Seewee Restaurant is way across town from Kiawah, but that's an awesome place for some good home cooking.
