MOTM 2001 was interrupted due to mandatory evacuation of Key West and the Florida Keys. On Saturday, Monroe County initiated the evacuation to all visitors first, trailer dwellers second, and residents last. Key West "International" Airport was swamped with Parrot Heads along with Offshore Speedboat Fans that were also in town for their events. Few were able to secure flights off the island, as was evident of the long waiting lines for car rentals at the airport.
