New Margaritaville Cafe (South Florida)

Post by Gardner McKay, Jr. »

A couple of months ago, I heard a rumor that Margaritaville was coming to Delray Beach (1/2 way between Ft. Lauderdale & Palm Beach, 50 miles north of Miami). It seems that a top chef that works in one of the trendy restaurants along the Atlantic Ave. entertainment district in Delray, spotted an ad for employment in one of the trade publications. It said the location was the Busch's Seafood Restaurant site, right on the intracoastal waterway off Atlantic Ave. Busch's is a beautiful place, with indoor & outdoor seating, and has been a longtime Delray fixture. Anyhow, when this rumor started, Busch's was still going strong. Yesterday, my daughter went by there, and say's Busch's is now closed. Is there anyone out there with ''inside info'', that can shed some light on this rumor? Ironically, Busch's is practically next door to the Cuban place where JB had his cell-phone swiped by a busboy, while JB was dancing, a couple of years ago.

What makes you think Jimmy bought out the resturant and not someone else who wanted to have a resturaunt? Because its next to where his phone got taken???
Still, it's all a mystery,

doubtful, the deal with universal prevents another mville cafe anywhere near orlando. forget the exact mileage of the limit but it pretty much covered the state except the panhandle.

Sailor Kid,
My source specifically said the employment ad was for a new Margaritaville. Also, Orlando is about 4 hr.s away, and you have to pay an all day parking fee if you want to go in before 7pm. Delray Beach's Atlantic Ave. entertainment district, is one of the hottest spots in S.Fla. The actual Bush's location is fabulous. Walk over the intracoastal bridge and in 5 min.your at the beach. You can sit outside the restaurant and view all kinds of water traffic, jet skis to mega-yachts. Location, location, location. I hope the the rumor is true. Off this subject, I hope the Haiti text idea really succeeds.

According to this CBS News website (scroll down to the entry for 9:05 AM ET), more than $8 million has already been donated through this process.

Elsewhere on the page (see entry at 3:27 PM ET) the FAA has issued a "ground stop" (e.g., a "don't come here!" order) for all planes bound to Port-au-Prince from the US. It seems that there is no ramp space (at P-a-P) for more incoming flights; and more worrisome, no gas to refuel the planes for the return to the US.

Yes, we remember that post. We're were just talking about that possible location a few days ago. We are familiar with the location. It is a nice spot. I hope it works out and the deal works out ok and Margaritaville can open there. I think it will be a beautiful location. I know we'll stop there when we are in the area.

If you hear anything else about it, please post and let us know.
