New Tour Opening number

Post by ScarletB »

OK I think it's about time for our yearly "Jimmy should open with this" thread. I think Lage Nom Ai should be disqualified since he opened Summerzcool with that.

Considering he has a new album I think "Nobody from Nowhere" would be fun.

Have at it!! I always love seeing what people suggest.

I would love to hear him start with Take Another Road.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

While I agree with Ravi and wouldn't mind hearing "Take Another Road", which is one of my all time favorites.... I think the perfect song to open the shows of this next tour is a cover......Club Trini's "Come on In", it's upbeat, it's inviting and as Jimmy says at the end of it, "I've always liked that song" :D

OMG!!!! I love that song and have even started a thread requesting he play it. I can't figure out why they don't if he says that he likes it. Is it because it's really one of C.T. songs??

another good one would be Rhumba Man because it getts peeps moving but they played it last tour. i really hope they don't take it off the list for this year.
one song i just don't get or care for ( which there aren't hat many of ) is beautiful swimmers..what's with that??? :-?

Since you brought up a final encore, how about a song that he has written that refers to the area he's in.

For example, playing Railroad Lady in both Massachusetts and in Texas or Coast of Carolina when he is in the Carolinas.

Ok I can't decide about an opener but maybe JB could send us back to St Barth to go over some of his songs. He could sing and play the guitar on each of the beaches then we could decide. I wonder if he can even remember some of the older ones. How's that sound girls?

Sorry Pam. Had a moment. Carry on.

Well if he's gonna do a cover, I'm thinking "Take The Money and Run" would be appropriate. [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif]

"Nobody From Nowhere" would be a great opening song, followed immediately by "Rhumba Man."

Other opening songs I've liked over the years-
Stars On the Water (I know, I know-it's a cover, but it's still a fun song)
Cuban Crime of Passion (on the Havana Daydreamin' tour in 1997)
Lage Nom Ae
Great Heart
Migration (Dallas-2006)\

Also,
he did "Changes In Latitudes" as an opening song on (I think) the License To Chill tour a few years ago.
A great song, to be sure (THE song that got me listening to Jimmy), but as an OPENING song?
Oh well, as long as there IS an opening song.

And he did preform "Take Another Road" at the West Palm Beach concert in 2001-just days after Dale Earnhardt was killed. He dedicated the song (the final encore song) to Dale.

i would just die if he opened a texas show with "hello texas". sigh....

jumpup and i had a conversation on one road trip... it would be awesome if he did a tour where he played songs related to that area... knowing he would have to add the SYKBH songs...

for example some of the texas songs:
hello texas
who's the blonde stranger
railroad lady
northeast texas women
migration
I must be wishing on someone else's star....

I have the original version by Rodney Crowell, and, as much as I love R.C.s version, I have to say, I do like Jimmy's rendition better.
Especially when he does it live.
