And the 10th Annual "Parrotheads in Paradise," a Key West gathering, was canceled, forcing 3,000 "Parrotheads" — as hardcore fans of singer Jimmy Buffett call themselves — to flee for points north.

Sitting on a nearby bench, dressed in matching tropical green sport shirts, parrot heads (aka Jimmy Buffett fan-club members) Donna Simoneaux and her husband Jeff waited for a flight back to Jacksonville.
"We got here Monday night for the Meeting of the Minds, but by Friday we figured we might have to leave early," said Donna Simoneaux. "This was my first time in Key West and we were having a great time.
"But we're both from Florida and we know when there's a hurricane, you don't take chances."
