I was awake standing on my balcony hoping to see it fly overhead with the TV on in my living room tuned in to one of the Dallas stations. I had it on a station that had a newscaster west of my location doing a live spot waiting for it to fly over from the west to east. I heard the explosion and my heart leapt up in my throat.

I was packing the car getting ready to make the 3 hour drive to Atlanta for the Buffett show that night when my grandmother called and told me to turn on the TV. I watched some of the coverage as I was finishing my packing. Jimmy did a great job that night; he came out before the show and dedicated the show to those who were killed.

We were heading East from Texas to the show in Columbia, SC. It was a very memorable trip.

(And January 28, 1986 was the day we lost the Challenger. I remember being home sick with the flu that day.)

God bless our heroes..... :(

I was driving to a morning basketball game when I heard the news. It was bright and sunny... it's hard to believe when tragedies like that happen....

I also remember Challenger in '86. Standing in the high school hallway when I heard the news....

Sail on, and our prayers for the families....
