Buffett should do a Halftime Show

Nothing against the Who, but who better than Jimmy to do the halftime show at Miami? After "nipplegate," they've pretty much gone with "classics," ie The Who, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty, just to name a couple.

The Super Bowl is in Dallas next year, and, ironically, New Orleans and Indianapolis the next two after that. I'm looking at you, New Orleans, to put Buffett as the halftime spotlight!

Jimmy's got the energy, for sure, but if he'd rather enjoy himself at the game without performing, why not!

That said, I *did* enjoy the halftime show.

They did a pretty good job of lip and play syncing to what they recorded at some studio in Miami before the Super Bowl huh.

Not a perfect job though - there were a couple of goofs on Roger's part I saw.

I think, regardless of the interest in the act, that doing the Super Bowl half time show is something to be leery of. It's so...not real. Prince was fun to watch as was Bruce. But it's all so...I dunno. It's just too...something. There's too big of a 'yikes' factor involved.

As big of a fan as I am of JB I'd rather he did not play the Supe HT.

Look. THE WHO are/were way bigger than Jimmy in the historical perspective of music.
By a factor of ten.
Yet they had to reduce their music to the inevitable 12 minute medley/montage
with the required over-production
of computer generated lights and fireworks show.

And here's the worst part ...... to a lot of (younger) people who watched that halftime
.... the halftime show was perhaps their only impression of THE WHO.

I love THE WHO. But last night's halftime ... eh .... forgetable. Didn't work.

Now think of Jimmy Buffett.
Get past your own feelings.
We are fanatics (spelled with an "F" not a PH", I refuse to do that) .....
but MOST PEOPLE ...
a Superbowl audience ....
think Jimmy Buffett is that *Margaritaville guy*.
Maybe they've heard CIB. Or worse still ...
they don't know him at all
and/or think he sang
that "Pina Colada Song".

So a Jimmy Buffett halftime
would be an embarrassing
over-produced medley
of these 4 songs:

Cheeseburger In Paradise - FINS - Volcano - Margaritaville

Laser light show. Perhaps a Volcano with fireworks.
Clips of dancing parrotheads in the audience wearing coconut bras and grass skirts with their *Fins to the left and right*.

12 minutes. Then over.

And the football watching world would be saying ..... "WTF?".

And honestly ..... Much of us at home would be saying the same thing.

I agree with SP about Jimmy. Trying to fit him into a 15 minute halftime show would kill everything we like about Jimmy, IMO.

Besides, the Who halftime show basically turned out to be a medley of CSI theme songs. I was completely unimpressed.

I also think you gave The Who more credit than they deserved because it was one of the most AWFUL performances I've seen. And I LOVED The Who back in the days.

Bruce Springsteen put on a much better half time show last year then The Who (although the light show was pretty cool) did . I do believe that JB and the CR's would do a much better half time show the last night's!

I would not be opposed to a Guitar Gods Halftime show---- Throw in Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, and BB King (while he is still alive)
