I was a poster here years ago under a different name, and I am thinking it was lisa davis...long before there was a new "Mrs." davis...and time and space have changed a bunch of stuff for me...but what I will mention is that I have had notices for several years about a late parking lot for the Thursday Great Woods show...and we usually set up at about noon...(or slightly before)...

I got the 3 pm warning last year for great woods and we were set up and tailgating by 12:30 pm...but only because I am old and move pretty slowly these days. (I am guessing they let the others in starting earlier) There were about a hundred sites set up in front of us last year, making us feel like we arrived late!

For what it is worth, I am a seasoned "vet" of the Thursday show at Great Woods, (mostly because my boss goes on Saturday and there is an unspoken rule at work!) and despite the annual warning, we always get in at about noon...and we are surprised to find many people already set up.

If this is like the past few thursday shows at GW, I am guessing that if we peacefully line up early, they will let us in. (Not mentioning the random year when we all went to Foxboro...)

For the record, we are staying at the Super 8, and we already secured an early check-in...From there we will head out to the venue, with our eldest 'keet for her first show (she's 21 and 3 months!) We plan to "line up" no later than about 11:30...Also for the record is that we got the 3 pm warning last year too!

In my experience, if we are all respectful and don't create havoc, we should get in fairly early...

Oh, and for what it's worth, I am married to a cop and cops don't break laws...at least mine doesn't.

Hope this puts some wind back under the fins of our thursday show-goers...

Last year, the lots opened at 11am. There were emails and notifications about the 11am opening, not a 3pm. I know the year of the hurricane there was all sorts of rumors going around and even a couple of radio stations mentioned later lot openings, but we've always had solid info from the clubs. Not this year I'm afraid...

I'll bring the tiki torches from around my pool, no pitchforks..but we have an inflatable shark. That might scare the bjeez out of them

Think of this, if we all line up early, where will the put us? The safest place is in the lot...

I think that if everybody respectfully lines up for some good clean fun...we should get in. My theory proved correct last year when I got the same warning...

They're not going to let us line up. The police will wave you by. Unfortunately, this isn't like the past. We're all long time vets of GW and in the past it was nod, nod, wink, wink on the opening time. This year they've told the clubs they're serious and just two weeks ago they held to a 4:00PM opening for the DMB show.

I am pretty sure I went through the same scare last year, but I may be wrong. I will say though that when we pulled in to the lot we were pretty surprised to get in. I don't recall getting waved passed the enterance and we were there pretty early.

I am planning to show up at the same time I show up every year. So far I've never been turned away. My last 5 mansfield shows were thursday shows and the party was just fine...

Anybody can choose the time they wish to show up, but I will be there before noon as I've been every year...I've done this enough years to know that we go through this pretty much every year.

I must have been pretty close to your party. As far as this year though, they've streched the opening time pretty far...If I recall there weren't too many people behind me. Perhaps if we all line up at around noon...

After the way I was treated at the entrance at 10:54 or whatever it was.. was just minutes before 11... no way. There were about two dozen cops and they were not going to listen to any excuse...

we'll be at the pool at the Residence Inn. Give us a shout if you get in, we will be right there!

Go back a few pages and read this thread. There has been representatives from the local PH club meeting with and working with the Comcast Ctr for the past few months, trying to come to an agreement about letting us in early. They aren't budging and sent Kathy an email expressing their stance and that they will not be opening early.
There is no more "wink,wink, nudge, nudge" about the opening time...it is what it is. It $UCK$, and unless changes are made this will be my last GW Weekend...but, save yourself the hassles of finding somewhere to turn around and hanging out for a few hours when they wave you past. Sleep in and enjoy the day before getting in line for a 3pm opening.
As for many of us....we'll be lounging in the pool with a boatdrink til it's time to line up
