Anyone want to help out a Canuckian...?

Looking for some space in a cooler, and maybe some space in the car for Saturday?

Rather than buy a disposable cooler and drive myself, this could be a better option.

Anyone...?

Wasn't planning to. Tough to get that much beer on the airplane!! I'll stop in MA somewhere and grab something.

Phone list is made, and most of the info together, although I have 14 PM's still in my outbox, asking for info to fill in blanks. If I somehow missed you and you're coming to GW, could you shoot me a PM with when you're coming, where you're staying, what shows you're doing ( Thurs, Sat, Sandbar) and your cell phone number?
Once I have everyone's info, I'll PM it to everyone.

FYI The eagles are at Gillette on 6/12 not 6/19

I wouldn't be too concerned at this point. When he played at Gillette they made a huge deal about tailgating and sent several emails out about when the parking lots would open and not to arrive early etc... in the end the opened the lots by 10am. But they were very diligent about getting the message out weeks in advance and so far nothing has been sent.

They know people arrive early for Buffett shows so if they plan on opening them that late they would have to send some sort of email out to ticket buyers letting them know.

I can see their point though, paying staff and police to cover the parking lot all day can't be cheap but there isn't much they can do.

I am guessing that it all washes out at some point. I can buy a 30 pack of bud light for $20, but I spend ~$8 for a 16 oz. beer. I spend ~$4 for a hotdog, when I can get a package for $3. And how many people do the same at any given night. I am pretty sure that they make their money on any given night. I can't think of any place that I have seen a concert at that has closed due to lack of revenue. If things are tight, they just raise the price for concessions.

A quick note before we get too cocky about "they'll never enforce the 'no alcohol' policy at GW".... I was in upstate New York last weekend where the concert season opened at Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) with a *serious* crackdown on alcohol. Checking coolers coming into the lots, requiring alcohol to be dumped out, issuing tickets for alcohol consumption and even using sensors to check unmarked cups for alcohol.

There were warnings about the crackdown that went unheeded, probably because, like JB fans, the concert-goers thought as long as they were discrete they'd be okay. Nnnnope.... http://alloveralbany.com/archive/2010/0 ... er-at-spac
"... uniformed and plainclothes police officers and investigators will be looking for violations of the law and taking strong enforcement action which will include making arrests, issuing tickets, impounding vehicles, confiscating and discarding alcoholic beverages and ejecting violators from the park and concert venue."
Here's what happened on concert day: Click here for more details here or google SPAC and alcohol.

Also may not bode well for Jones Beach, since it was the state park officials cracking down. We shall see.

It is my understanding, back in 2008 the alcohol policy changed. But JB had it in his GW performance contract that alcohol was permitted in the parking lot.

Has Comcast issued warnings about alcohol? I thought it was just opening times.

If you go to tab 4 at the bottom, the date should put you around July 2008.

I think we had this conversation after the whole Pearl Jam thing, seems like they tailor it to the age of the crowd, do they assume there is more underage drinking at a PJ concert than Clapton or JB?

I don't think there were any new warnings issued. Just saying that they really did decide to crack down at a Live Nation venue in Saratoga, where before it was much the same as GW has always been (keep it discreet and no problem). This year in Saratoga they mean it; no alcohol or you get cited or arrested. Just saying that our "a crackdown will never happen" assumption isn't as rock solid as it used to be.

Can't say for certain because of course I've never seen JB's GW performance contract but I doubt this provision was in it because public drinking is illegal in Mansfield. The fact that the police mostly leave us alone as long as we're over 21 and discreet is just because they're giving us a break, not because of anything in JB's contract.

Hey....enough of this buzzkill talk....whatever happens, we'll deal with it, and we'll still have fun....WE ALWAYS DO!!!! :D :D :D :D

My thought on it though is if alcohol in the lots were going to be an issue, it would have been brought up to Rick & Kathy while they were trying to get us in early. No mention of it was made, so I'm going on the assumption it's a GW tailagate as usual.....so let's just chill and plan on having fun. I know we always bring a case of water, and whenever we see the cops, offer them one to stay hydrated. If you're cool to them, they're normally cool with you.....just remember to bring your party cups :D

reposting this from the Thurs thread:

hey gang! Got this from Kathy to the PHCOEM crew:

Club Caravan Details:
We meet at Shaw's 390 West St in Mansfield MA, which is just off Rte 140 South.
http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl
Meet at 9am. We will be trying to leave at 9:30 am sharp, but will have to do
some scouting that morning to determine if they will be blocking us.

soooo... looking like they are trying to get in for 10am I'd say. Not sure if thats a done deal or what but its what the club is doing.

Ya know, if 72 cars, 15 RV's and 27 guys whining they have to go to the bathroom all show up at the same time......I think they're bound to let us in rather than disrupt traffic for an hour to get us turned around......I'm just sayin' [smilie=noeyedear-shrugging.gif]
