ALPINE tailgate change?
When our bus arrived at alpine, we were presented with a flyer that stated that in 2010 EVERYONE entering parking lots would be checked for tickets. NO ONE would be admited to the parking lot without an event ticket. The entire bus would be checked for the right number of tickets. RV occupants would need tickets for ALL people in the RV.
This seems to be a departure from policy. Many times friends have arrived and scored their tickets in the parking lot. It seems a little counter-productive since Alpine makes money on bringing people into the lot, even if they don't sell an event ticket for the body.To say nothing of the potential loss of dollars for local business if they shut out tailgate only types.
Any Alpine/east troy locals that can give us clarification?

Re: ALPINE tailgate change?
For whatever it's worth, I met up with about six or seven other cars-full of Parrotheads at one of the East Troy watering holes on Saturday morning, and we then caravaned over to Alpine Valley. I don't recall anyone at the gate asking to see my tickets (which I had), and during the course of the afternoon I don't remember anyone talking about having been handed a flyer or any supposed changes for the following year.
These supposed changes for 2010 may in fact be the truth, but I'm considering it to be just scuttlebutt for now.

I can only imagine how backed up the traffic getting into the lot would be after doing this, as if it's not bad enough. Can you imagine how long it would take to count the tickets of all the bus riders?

We too recieved the flyer in the "bus lot" I cannot imagine them climbing on each rv/bus to check for tickets. It would be a huge disaster.

Isn't there a Will Call? How would those people be let in? Doesn't seem to make any sense to me.

How would you pick up the ticket at the will call counter? Would the lot/gate attendants walk up with you and make sure you pick it up at the window? It just does not sound feasable to me. The same story is told every year, and nothing ever happens . . .

At Great Woods, you had to have your confirmation email telling you your tickets were at will call or you had to park outside, walk in, and get your tickets (when will call opened at 4:00).... They used to do this at Grateful Dead concerts at some venues around the country. It is always a cluster buck and more of a pain than anything they are trying to do.

Re: ALPINE tailgate change?
The notice was given to pholks in the bus and rv sections. Yeah, it would be REALLY impossible to enforce - and the hiway patrol would have a fit.
