Keywestjunkie wrote:I think everyone is just getting scared off with these parking updates. Go early trust me. At 1, there will already be aton of people in there, 12:30 is when they will start letting you in, 1 at the latest. Trust me hundreds of cars show up, and there is nothing they can do but open lots. once we got there at 12, and they did make us wait, but we only waited about 5 minutes on the side of highway D, (pulled over next to the cows) then just 5 or 10 min later they let us in. So I wouldnt worry about it.

Ok, lets kill this quickly. I to have been to Alpine, in fact I have only missed one show since 1997. Being involved in the "inner circle" also gets me additional info. Additionally I only post updates regarding parking and tailgating as informational only, not to scare pholks off.

This is the first year in many that EVEN their recording is warning pholks off. 262-642-4400. Additionally, being involved both with my business and in community affairs up here, I have reliable contacts both in the law enforcement agencies as well as management at Alpine and they are all saying the same thing. Finally, even email contact this year with Alpine is getting the same story - contact@alpinestaff.com. Their position is "we have informed everyone through our webpage and messages regarding this year's parking and opening times, this includes the major bus and transportation companies in the area", they are not going to send out an email or call every person who bought a ticket.

Don't shoot the messenger please.

We all know that things change by the minute, best I can do is keep us informed. So regardless if we get in at noon, 1, 2 or even 3pm, wherever everyone ends up should be our usual great Alpine tailgating party. I still am holding belief that much like other years, they will not follow through but this year they are taking a much more definite approach, so who knows, and frankly I am planning on partying the whole weekend wherever and whenever.

Ya all need to buy me shots of pirate blood and Patron for this year, this was a b**** in planning:-))

Hope I remember the words Friday night, then again, that would mean that I'm sober, when was the last time anyone saw me playing sober?!

See ya Friday and Saturday!

Hello:

Our published parking lot opening time is 3pm. If you arrive at 1pm, the parking lots will not be open, nor will parking staff be in place to allow the lots to open. Local law enforcement will be patrolling local roadways to ensure smooth traffic flow and will be issuing citations. Local ordinances prohibit parking on area roadways. It would be best to attempt to arrive closer to the published parking lot opening time (3pm).

Also, be aware that ALL guests in cars, busses, etc. that enter the parking lots must have a ticket in hand or confirmed at will call prior to entering the parking lots. This check will be performed at each parking lot entrance and those vehicles with guests not holding tickets will not be permitted to enter. Please arrange for all in your party to have their tickets prior to entering the parking lots.

Regards,
AVMT

I can see them enforcing the 3PM this year (either because of a shortage of parking lot attendants or because of the issues that they had last year with the non-parrotheads that got way too drunk to enter the show....)

However the show your ticket is going to be a stretch... especially with the printed tickets that resemble PDF's (are they planning on scanning each one?) (This is probably to prevent people from "camping out" before/after the show and causing trouble as well.

I think my best bet is to find a good staging area and make sure that I stay with my group so that we can park together...1 or 2 less hours really won't matter all that much to me especially with Hemingway's providing good before show entertainment.

Thanks again Steve for your help in all of this :D

Wow Steve, so defensive. I didnt mean anything bad by it, or that you were really trying to scare people, lol. Anyway, I also have been going there for many years, and when everyone converges on that place at 1 pm with no where else to put all those hundreds of cars, in the past they have let us in. All I was saying. Maybe it will be different this year who knows. It's weird, because in years past we used to actually go at 3, and it was a disaster and I was always so upset about all the people already there, so I just dont want to take that chance again. thanks! Have a great time!

Not defensive Bubba, just tired, its been a hellofa couple weeks;-) Would be nice if Alpine would cooperate with us. Logistically running this big of an event gets difficult when things out of your control don't happen to coexist.

Awww, to be back in the islands again:-)

Looking forward to just being able to drink and enjoy the feastivities!

Steve, I don't know who you are but I would like to buy you a beer (or Pirates Blood, if you prefer) for putting up with all the questions and coordinating the whole thing. I am just riding the knowledge that it does not matter whether we get in at 1 or 3 but that we WILL get in and have one hell of a great time at ALpine THIS WEEKEND!!!

Steve, I should also say I only caught the end of some of the posts, not pages back, but I now see you sure did alot of planning. Your Hemingway party sounds fun. We have our own big group going and hang out in Lake Geneva on Fri night and then head to Alpine usually at noon. But now that seems like its not going to happen, damn Alpine. You know what is most annoying? I always tell all of my friends that Alpine is the most fun to tailgate, and is always so cool to the fans. We'll see I guess. Just out of curiosity, what have the posted parking lot times been in the past, noon? Or always 3? Do you really plan to have a group scoping it out??? LOL.

Amen to that :D
(It really doesn't matter what time we get in, people keep forgetting that the tailgating is only a small part of the experience, the real experience is being in the show with ALL of the thousands of people and feeling the vibe...Something we can easily duplicate at least for a couple of hours at the pre-staging party....)

I'm depressed.... (a little)

This will be the first Alpine show I've missed in the last 15 years (although the reason I'm missing it is to spend the weekend at my friends lake cottage in MI, so not all that bad and I think I can create a 'Buffett-like' environment while there).

AV is one of my favorite venues b/c the preshow tailgating scene is absolutely the craziest I've seen anywhere. I think it's all the pent up energy from the long WI winter and people just let loose that day. Plus, the area is simply beautiful with the green rolling hills, etc.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get through the next 3 days without hanging my head? (perhaps a steady flow of rum?)
Roll with the punches
Play all of his hunches
Make the best of whatever came his way
What he lacked in ambition
He made up with intuition
Plowing straight ahead come what may

Sorry to hear your predicament. If you have access to the internet up there, you could listen to the Alpine show on RM and enjoy your own private pseudo concert! Of course, it would take a little imagination and a steady flow of rum! Good luck!

Looking forward to seeing many of you in Lake Geneva tomorrow night! :D

Well it is a GREAT time for a saturday night vacation!!! AC has been out for a week. Storms knocked power out for long enough that we had to relocate all the food in the freezer to somebody who had power. Still getting over being sick for almost 2 weeks now. Ummmmmmm.....yeah. Let me get my tequila and let the party begin!!!!! :wench:

Anyone camping at Bong State Park this year? We have two sites and an RV. Has anyone camped there? If so, your thoughts?

Howdy gang!

I'm going to try to cancel 1 room with 2 beds for Saturday night at the luxurious Thomas Motel in Elkhorn...

http://maps.google.com/maps/place?cid=4 ... XqNfTm5PwI

The girl told me to call back in the morning when the manager is there.

If anyone is interested in me transferring it to you, please send me a PM.

There is a bus that goes from the Two Seasons Bowl next door, to the concert, for "$33 including beer and wine coolers until they run out." I don't know whether they still have space, but you could find out.

http://www.two-seasons-bowl.com/Home.html

Gracias!
