Some mourners may bring Frisbees to Saturday's memorial service for Walter Fredrick "Fred" Morrison, who invented the flying disc.

Morrison, 90, died this week at his home in Utah, said Jen Derevensky, a spokeswoman for Wham-O, the company that has sold the Frisbee since signing a contract with Morrison in 1957.

(I got hit on the bridge of the nose in 8th grade by a frisbee thrown full force. I truly saw stars. I laugh every time I read that line).

"Morrison will be cremated and his remains mixed into the plastic of a special memorial Frisbee. The disc will then be thrown onto the roof of the Wham-O Plastics Company."

Seriously, sail on, Mr. Morrison. My buddy and I had one of the early ones back in the '60s that was molded to actually look like a flying saucer, complete with embossed "windows" and "alien markings" in the plastic.
