Well...we've decided to make the trek to Indy once again!

There will be around 8 of us, and we already have our rooms booked at Cambria! Last time I came out to Indy, we had to stay a half hour away...so we are pumped about being able to stay so close to the venue!

Can't wait until May!

We plan on it and bringing 6 others. Have a room booked at Cambria but are considering Sleepybear given it's across the street and does look like fun weather permitting. :D

I was looking at these threads and it suddenly hit me......This is a qualifying weekend for the 500! :o :o We used to live in Fishers and I remember how hard it was for folks to get hotel reservations for any weekend in May........

Good Luck Everyone!!!!! Don't delay.......... :D

OK. Need help. Forget all the negative Peyton Manning comments over the years . . . in fact, I didn't make one negative comment after this past Super Bowl (that any of you all know of :P ) so lets give this New England Pirate a hand . . . Cheap Motel Suggestion near the venue???? Where is the party at Indy!!!!!????

I will be there! Every year since 1996.

As for cheap hotels, there are plenty of hotels to pick from but I don't know if you would consider them cheap. There are just a couple close to the venue but there are plenty on 96th St, just off of I-69. This is also where Cheeseburger in Paradise is and they always have festivities for the show. And the parking lot at the venue is always a good time. That is where I will be. And one last tip, don't wear Patriots junk up here. :)

Aloha!!

I'm hoping you all can help me out - I've never been to Indy but I'm looking forward to hopefully adding it to my Buffett experiences! What time does the venue open for tailgating? My group has a 4 hour drive so ideally we would like to drive down on Friday to get an early drinking start on Sat.!! Hopefully the weather cooperates!!

Also, any suggestions on a hotel to stay at?? In Pitt, the Holiday Inn Express has a pool party the day before the show - any places like that in Indy??

Thanks for any help/suggestions!!!

Long time parrot head. First time to Indy. I live in michigan and was wondering if there is any lock out for instance can I go to my ticket master and get tickets at the same time you can in Indy. I believe it is same time zone also please correct me if I am wrong. If the above is true and anyone wants to make ticket requests I can try and get as many as possible. Not sure how many people I can get to go with me.

The lot usually "opens" at 2 or 3pm. I say that because when I roll in around noon, there is already a small group of people there. It is nice to get there early because then you are parked right in the middle of the hardcore tailgaters. I have never had any issue getting in before the lot is scheduled to be open.

As for hotels, you are limited with choices around the venue but everybody likes to stay near the Cheeseburger in Paradise just off of I69. It is a short drive to Verizon (Deer Creek for us old timers) and it is all interstate so you don't have to turn too much!

Jon, the club usually does a bus from the hotel tailgate, since they have a long history of being assholes in the lot, and we avoid any DUI charges. They're finalizing plans and should know something within the next week.

I don't know that hotels on the opposite side of town in the 'Burbs will be sold out just for qualifications- West side (where the track is), Downtown and Broad Ripple (bar area), maybe, but not Hassleton/Carmel/Noblesville.

Speaking of DUI, you do need to make sure that you have a DD. Hamilton county is always looking for ways to fund more roundabouts. They usually have a checkpoint that they randomly make people pull into on the way out. We were caught in it last year but we always have a DD so it just wasted a couple of minutes of our time before White Castle!!!

We're going, again. Taking at least 10 more with us. Please let me reiterate what Coconuts said, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A DD. We have passed a check point leaving Deer Creek every time we have been there. I even had to pick up a friend at the local lock-up after a concert (not Buffett) before. Not good.

Good luck tomorrow with tickets everyone.

We are giving Indy a try this year. We usually do Pitt or Cincy.

How's the tailgating? I got the VIP park passes...was that a waste or do they have any advantage? Trying to figure out where to stay too. Probably going to be the Hampton or the Holiday Inn down I69. Any other suggestions?

Indy was my hometown venue for 10+ years. The only reason I'm going to this show is because it's on a Saturday and we have free places to stay, plus we can combine it with a visit to my folks.

Compared to Cinci, the tailgating is nonexistent. The VIP parking is a waste, if you're going to get there early you should go to Sleepy Bear campground across the street.

I've only done Star Lake once, and it seems like the tailgating was decent there.

I got 12 this morning. Hopefully I will be as lucky Monday for Cincy.

FWIT, I like the VIP parking at Deer Creek. We always have a good time and we get out quick after the concert.
