Don't know about charcoal. We have always used a small propane grill with no problem.

Great thing about Indiana, if you don't like the current weather, just wait five minutes and it will change. Just hope for the best.

The lots officially open at 2pm but I have been at noon for the last couple of years and have had no trouble getting in. I also have not been the first person there. LOL

Charcoal grills? There is no open flame allowed in the lot. Not saying that it can't be done  but if they see it, they will ask you to put it out.
The grills were going in the premier parking lot 2 years ago!!

they changed the open flame rule a few years ago...for the last 3 years we have grilled on an open flame..it is a dead issue now

Aloha Parrotheads!!

Long-time concert goer, first time to Indy! Very excited!!

We are planning to get to the venue parking lot around noon to start tailgating - we'll be good and thirsty by then! Are there any lots at the venue that are better than others for tailgating? I know in Pitt, we always avoid the first lot that opens up and wait to get closer to the pavillion.

Also, are there any events or gatherings Friday night??

Fins Up!!

Melissa

We are making our list for Sleepybear for Sat. Tent camping for us. It does look like the weather will change by Sat. :D We are expecting 2 1/2 inches beween now and Thurs. I imagine Indy is too. I wonder how the campground will be with all this rain coming.

We still have a ressie for Cambria so we still have that as an option if we decide to bail on the camping. This is a trial run for us to see if like the camping as an option next year. Sounds like fun. Has anyone stayed at Sleepybear?

I don't think we will pull in before 1pm or so. We are stopping for lunch at CIP.

If anyone is from the Indy area post on how much rain you wind up with. I hate a soggy camping area. (I know...Nashville...unbelievable).
So looking forward to Sat. Hope to meet some of you too!!! Cheers!!

Parrothead Jacob posted grilling open flame is ok. I saw grills 2 years ago and the parking lot opens early. Where is your info coming from? Security was no issue when we were there 2 years ago.
I wouldn't worry about it. Now the weather looks great. Let's just get this rain over with.

Some of the info came straight from the IPHC....and the venue itself. Called them and was told "no charcoal grills or first-ups will be allowed in the lot"....also got a warning that "Noblesville's finest" will be lying in wait to make sure that all vehicles have a DD, which is never a problem since we always do.... :wench: :pirate: .... hopefully the info we have is wrong, since we like yours much better..!! Is there any particular place that the BN'ers are gathering in the lot or at Sleepy Bear..??

Looking forward to putting faces with names....PHINS UP!!!!

Ms not sure what to say. Just basing my info on previous years. The DD has been discussed here...but like you say, it shouldn't be an issue anyway. I do not know of any gathering of BNer's but had thought about that this morning. We should get a list of those of us going.

I think we are going to look for those huge landshark baggo or corn hole boards!! :D

Question for all...

While the folks at the Verizon Wireless Center will tell you that the parking lot opens up at 3:30 Saturday afternoon, I've read multiple posts from people saying that they've gotten in well before that - 2 p.m., even noonish!

I've seen Jimmy now 32 times, yet never showed up immediately when the lot opens. Being that this is the first Saturday show Jimmy has played in Indy for a long while, we don't want to miss a second of tailgate time. Thus, what do y'all think would be a good time to arrive? Don't want to miss any tailgating time, but we also don't want to be stuck in a giant line of traffic for an hour and a half!

And while it's common sense - DESIGNATE A DRIVER. Having just been pulled over this weekend for going 57 in a 55 at 2 in the afternoon, I can vouch for the fact that the Indianapolis-area police don't mess around.

Thanks!

If you go at noon you should be able to get right in and avoid any traffic. They have also extended 146th St all the way out to I69 and it has really helped with traffic. And for anybody coming in on Friday, there is a Cheeseburger in Paradise off of exit 3 (96th St) on I69 as well. The weather channel girl said no rain for Saturday but she also said that we will have rain M-F leading up to the show.

Im new to chicago and saw Jimmy's in Indy this weekend and its only a three hour drive. Are there any big parrot head groups tailigating or what not. Seeing i dont kno many people i was hoping some group would be willing to take in a single person for the day. I'm willing to pitch in of course.

Also I will need a single ticket.

Boardkicker, we are staying at Sleepybear and our large group just consists of my Jimmy and myself. This tailgate will be a quieter for us. We are sure we will wander over to the circus lot and see what everyone is up to there. Our big bash will be Chicago.....we couldn't wait till Aug.
