Local police were out in force yesterday afternoon, the first time 2 cops came up and stated that drinking was not permitted but they weren't in the business of checking cups, etc. I thanked them and shook one of the officer's hands. About an hour later i saw 3 other cops walking in our direction and didn't flinch. One approached me and asked if that was beer in my cup(red, plasic), i replied that it was and he said "pour it out!"......i replied that it was in a cup and he shot back "that's not what i asked!". I poured it out and my fiance was asked to do the same. An hour after that a 3rd set of officers approached us, with my beer in a brown, plastic green tea container and hers in a Fat Tuesdays "slurpee" container, they approached a friend and asked him if he was drinking.
They then questioned him about 2 unopen containers of margarita mix(non-alcoholic) located in the back of his suv, they then questioned the beer can he had in a coozie which covered all but a 1/4" of the can and made him pour that out. I've attended over 60 JB concerts over the years but this was my last one in Bristow, Va. I know why they were out in force(a fatal post-concert car accident last year) but this was ridiculous. I'll travel twice as far to see Jimmy elsewhere if i have to, me and my friends are responsible adults(had a dd, etc.) and this isn't the first time i've witnessed cops/security in Bristow being jerks! Have fun, as far as drinking containers somemthing covered and not transparent!

Most years at Bristow the police walking through the lots have been decent to deal with.......and you're right, last year's fatality is probably the reason for the crackdown. Isn't it this kind of enforcement that made Jimmy vacate Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD years ago?????painyv00 wrote:Local police were out in force yesterday afternoon, the first time 2 cops came up and stated that drinking was not permitted but they weren't in the business of checking cups, etc. I thanked them and shook one of the officer's hands. WOW -- don't know where you were parked. There were about 20 of us BNers in the "premier" lot by the grove of trees ("Crittervile Cove"). We arrived around 12:00 and had no issues with the police. In fact, Im not even sure we saw any police anywhere near where we where. Sorry to hear you had so much difficulty.painyv00 wrote:Local police were out in force yesterday afternoon, the first time 2 cops came up and stated that drinking was not permitted but they weren't in the business of checking cups, etc. I thanked them and shook one of the officer's hands. Happy Buffett Eve!
We'll be sure to bring our sippee cups instead of red plastic ones so we don't have an issue with the cops.
And our oh-so-innocent jello....
See y'all in the cove!

WAPHC club hosts- the Reefers show up about 5-5:30- the club has a big banner.....if you are facing Critter Cove as you drive in, it's the area to the left in the grass by the fence...get in line, but it is well organized, not swarms like other places I've been.Bfan53again wrote:I keep forgetting to ask this:

Okay, Thursday I walked the lot with a beer bottle in my hand with 2 other BN'rs. Passed one patrol...nothing... immediately passed a second (who circled us in his crusier)... nothing. The third stopped traffic for me so I could cross in front of them. Rule number 1: dont act a fool if you are walking with a drink; rule number 2: if a officer asks if you have alcohol say no. ... the only time they showed any interest was when I had my smoking balls out, and then it was just out of curiosity. Hell one cop came up to check out sp's stripper pole and was awesome.
Oh, Will... there were three small charcoal grills near us.

You know, in the thread for Thursday's show, there's an awful lot of talk about poles and balls. It's getting me concerned about what you all have planned for today's show.
