Fausto's

Hey gang,

Forgot to post this before but my wife and I were in Key West for a long weekend after Thanksgiving. We stayed at the La Concha Hotel on Duval and could see Fausto's out our window. I just HAD to walk in one day and buy a chocolate milk! I'm sure I'm not the only BN'r to do that! I also drove her down Caroline Street with the top down on the rental playing the song of the same name.

Fun times!

I was fortunate enough to like in the Keys and Key West and OF COURSE I did all the Jimmy Buffett stuff. You are not alone, my friend.

I have been known to wander to Fausto's for chocolate milk, heck I have even walked down Caroline St singing the song with a group of BNers.

I always make a point to wander into Fausto's when I'm in Key West, but not for chocolate milk (I hate milk). Actually, most times I just wander in....to wander in. :D

Ever go down to Captain Tony's to get out of the heat? Or stumble over to Louis' Backyard? Or realize that salt air aint thin . . . it sticks right to your skin . . . and it makes you feel fine?

:D

Me too.

Got a great picture of my wife "going crazy" on Caroline Street. Although not the going crazy that Jimmy was eluding to.

I made sure my rental bike was red. And it was old, but it got me around.

The last time I was in Key West I don't remember buying milk and I have no memory of what we were singing "walking" down Caroline Street. We must have got to the ship on time since we made it home [smilie=asa.gif]

Sounds like a good time! I bought the milk on our way out of town heading back to the mainland. It's amazing how good a bottle of chocolate milk tastes after three days of nothing but Boat Drinks!

On my annual (if not more) pilgrimage, one of my first stops after I check into my home away from home is Faustos. It's about 3 blocks from the best B&B on the island (Key West Bed and Breakfast) on William Street. I usually buy cheese, snacks, wine and whatever else strikes my fancy to keep on hand for late night munchies. Of course, this is the "new" Faustos on White St--it was originally on Fleming. Browse the market, they have great local products, a great meat and deli counter. Try some Cuban crackers and good cheese. I don't buy choco milk, but have often gotten Alka Seltzer for those "head hurts, feet stink" mornings. :wench:

I haven't had the pleasure of getting to Key West yet, but when I do, you can rest assured I'll do all the Buffett things.

I have done the requisite stuff in New Orleans, though. Sat on a bench in Jackson Square... drank my wine (well, a voodoo, as I hate wine) and breathed the midnight air...

Nantucket. Castle Gregory, Ireland (although "Mayor" is a stretch . . .).
