Thanks for the well wishes, Kruzin - we had the most perfect vacation ever for our family! I posted something on the Changes in Lattitudes thread about looking for a laid back beach town on the Gulf Coast in FL and received several great ideas. Anna Maria Island won out and, wow, were those people right! I swear you could feel your blood pressure dropping. Leave it to Parrotheads to be such a great help. It never fails to amaze me.KruzinParrots wrote:FINSU.P. have a fun trip. Tell us all about the WalMart experience there and any other shopping experiences you had.
We spent the first 2 1/2 days in Orlando so we could do the Disney thing with our daughter. We wanted to pick up some snacks & beer for the suite while we were there so they directed us to the Walmart Supercenter on Turkey Lake Rd. They had a great display of the Landshark stuff and my son was able to pick up flip flops, some extra swim trunks & a shirt. We went to Margaritaville the next evening and the identical flip flops that my son payed $5.00 for were $20! My husband wanted to buy me some darling flip flops that had margaritas on the straps and the parrot on the bottom, but the knot on top of the thing that goes between your toes hurt, so no-go.
There were very few stores in the AMI area that didn't go with the whole parrothead feel. My favorite was Beach Bums where I bought a sea star necklace, a sticker that says "I Beach" and a parrot that sits on the handlebars of my lime green beach cruiser bike that squeaks when you squeeze it! We also bought a keyring holder with parrots on it and a few other beach-type souvineers. I managed to keep myself from buying a lifering for the dock at our cabin that said "Margaritaville Landshark" because the suitcase was overflowing already! The shop that carried the lifering had life size male & female carved pirates at the entrance. The female was every man's dream and our 3 boys had a great time posing with her and taking pictures!!!
Does everyone remember back to the toilet flusher that had a palm tree on it? I saw a sink drain basket with a seashell on it for $25. I believe I was also in a Kitchen Container store, Kruzin and saw the palm tree glassware. It caught my eye too. So, that's my Florida report. Glad to be back to buffettnews but wish I were living in Anna Maria! 47 more days till Alpine!
Fins Up! ~^~
