SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S. C. -- A South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper has been cited for speeding.
Lance Corporal Stephen Poole was stopped by another Highway Patrol trooper on Interstate 85 in Spartanburg County on March 16. According to Department of Public Safety spokesman Sid Gaulden, Poole was going 95 miles per hour where the posted speed limit is 70.
Poole was given a $449 ticket. Poole was driving his own car, not a Highway Patrol vehicle.
Gaulden says no disciplinary action has been taken against Poole but says it’s possible Poole could be disciplined after the ticket is adjudicated. Poole is currently out on medical leave.
This news clip brings up an often interesting conversation. If you're willing share - what's the fastest you've ever been stopped and ticketed for and where? If you always drive the speed limit let us know as well. If you have a standard workable excuse to avoid a ticket please share your knowledge with the group.
For myself - I got stopped doing 82 on I-70 in Columbus, OH back when the national speed limit was still 55. I seem to think that cost me several hundred at that time.
