Loved the Secret Policeman's Ball and the Secret Policemen's Other Ball albums way back in the 80s. Thing is, I probably would have never heard of these records had it not been for WQDR in Raleigh (which went country in 1984). The new deluxe version of the Who's Quadrophenia and Townshend's collection of demos from those sessions (only available as a Record Store Day release) put me in mind of the stripped down versions of some of those songs that were played on the Secret Policeman's Ball records.
