This video is old, but she's not. And she rocks!

(I never really cared that much for Alabama, but it is a good (bar)song.)

Hearing this on Sirius/XM's Deep Tracks channel earlier tonight was a great reminder of why the subscription is worth every penny.

A 14 year old Derek Trucks opening for the Allman Brothers Band at Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh, NC on July 4, 1993. I wasn't at this particular concert but I did see Derek sit in with the Allmans at the Creek back in the early 90's, most likely on the tour for Shades of Two Worlds. They brought him up on stage to jam on "One Way Out" during which he proceeded to give Dickey Betts a run for his money.

Great old performance from Billy Joe Shaver on Austin City Limits from 1984. I've seen him in concert at least a couple of times since then but I'm sure glad I got to see him with Eddy at Antone's in Austin back in '97.

For anyone that's into the dreamy, laidback Southern California sound and/or Gram Parsons, I give you Beachwood Sparks. I bought the debut album by these guys way back in 2000 but for whatever reason I never really paid them much attention after that. Perhaps because they only released one other album (as well as an EP) after that. This cut is from their new record, Tarnished Gold, which came out in late June.

A few posts up was Derek Truck recorded 1993.
Here he is recorded 2011 at Montreux Jazz Festival, with Santana and Susan Tedeschi:

And 2012, at the White House, with Susan Tedeschi and Warren Haynes:

And somehow I stumbled across this:

Alejandro Escovedo and Ryan Adams performing at SXSW 2001 in Austin. I went that year but by the time this show rolled around I was too worn out to even get up off of the couch. I had no idea this even existed, so glad someone was filming.

Here's a rarely seen clip of the Flying Burrito Brothers performing "Hot Burrito #1" that was just uploaded to YouTube in April of this year. In this article from DangerousMinds.net, it's pointed out that the album this song comes from, The Gilded Palace of Sin, has yet to go Gold. That's really difficult to believe, especially considering how popular Gram and the Flying Burrito Brothers are, especially amongst the alt.country community.

This song was only one of many highlights from Tommy's house concert in North Raleigh last night. When he unleashed this one on the crowd everyone stopped in their tracks to listen with rapt attention. On the ride that ensued we all laughed and cried right along with him. What a hell of a story.
