If there was only some way for Jimmy and Michael to show up in Paris the same week.......

I was a Michael Franks fan even before I was a Parrothead. Michael will be 68 next month!

Saw this guy (Mike June) open for Jon Dee Graham at a house concert here in Raleigh a few weeks ago. When he performed this song it definitely turned some heads. If you listen, you'll hear why. It's pretty tricky lyrical territory to navigate in this day and age of political correctness and oversensitivity but Mike June handles it well. Speaking of Jon Dee, he contributes lap steel to this song and also gets a real nice shoutout in the video itself.

A James McMurtry song so new it isn't even on a record (yet). This was performed for the first time just a few nights ago at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco.

Along with the Flying Burrito Brothers, Goose Creek Symphony, Pure Prairie League, Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen this is the sort of Country music I cut my teeth on. I've got to throw Waylon and Willie and the boys in there too...
