I'd like to tell you about a swiss musician. Many years ago he wrote some songs, including famous Swiss lady:



I'm not talking about Pepe Lienhard, but about the writer of this song, Peter Reber. After he got famous with his trio, Peter Sue and Marc who won the European Song Contest 1981,



he bought a sailboat and sailed around the world with his wife. They took a break in the Bahamas where Peter met carribean music.
He also learned to play the steel drums a bit and used them in his later records.
I was lucky enough to be on tour with him some years ago, and I asked him if he knew Jimmy Buffet. He told me that Jimmy influenced his music quite a bit.
You can hear this in his probably most famous song nowadays, 'Jede bruucht si Insel', or 'Everyone needs his private island':



He also filmed whales when he was near Antarctica, and he wrote a song for these beautyful animals:



Unfortunately I can't find his own movies on youtube, but I hope you get the idea.
A Swiss musician being around JB's age, playing similiar music, with similiar ideas.
