Come Monday - Just about the best version I have heard
This version of Come Monday is co-mingled with a concert in 1980 in New York on Jokelben. But it obviously is not from that concert. Sounds like it came from the Jerry Jeff Walker birthday show (or some show he did with JJW). Anyway, beside the conversation with Jimmy, JJW and Fingers, this is just the sweetest version of Come Monday I have found so far and is really sung as the love song it was meant to be. Set my heart aflutter.

There was one tour where Jimmy had changed it up a bit, put this stop start thing in it - whatever year he was on Johnny Carson is that one. 1983? It was exceptional. It hasn't been that good since.

Awesome - both story and song. (Even with the wrong chords in the bridge.)

Now, see, I would never have known that if you had not said something. I envy your ear for music, but I also think that sometimes being tone deaf like I am can be an advantage. You don't pick up on those little mistakes when listening to music. But it also means that you don't want to be anywhere near me when I am singing. It would be like nails on a blackboard. I just listened to this again and I see what you mean about the chords in the bridge. But what I really like is that he does not strain so when he sings "doubt" and "again." He just sings that whole song so quietly. It is really quite moving. And yes, I'm getting mushy.rmissbrook wrote:Now, see, I would never have known that if you had not said something. Re: Come Monday - Just about the best version I have heard
I'm similarly tune-challenged (my brother got the perfect pitch, and I got nuttin), and so the words and feeling are more significant to me than the notes. I agree about the lack of strain: that bothers me a lot in his recent versions.rmissbrook wrote:I just listened to this again and I see what you mean about the chords in the bridge.
