Is this a problem anywhere else???

Post by pair8head »

The entire Northwest has been having a debate (if you wanna call it that) about Bikini Baristas and this morning
in the news is this little tidbit.

Sumner acts to block bikini baristas
Lewd Conduct: City Council approves ordinance regulating dress if bikini baristas were to come to town

Read more: http://www.thenewstribune.com/2010/04/2 ... istas.html

Sumner is a small town just south of where we live. Now I have never visited one of these although there are plenty of them around to choose from. I'm just wondering if other parts of the country are having this debate.

The only problem in my area is that we don't have any.

The ordinance will prohibit public exposure of the genitals or any part of a female breast below the upper edge of the areola. Violators can be charged with a misdemeanor, which is punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 and up to 90 days in jail.
So swimsuits would be illegal? A lot of them show cleavage which typically is below the areola.

Stupid politicians with nothing else to do, I suppose.

Boulder recently passed an ordinance making it legal for women to go topless, so as not to discriminate against them, since men were allowed to previously. Of course, that's Boulder

It's not necessarily the bikini itself that is a problem but like the article said those that wear x shaped pastes as a bikini. I'm sorry but bandaids on the nips are just a little too bare for me, but that's just me. Then you've got the baristas that will offer special peeks for extra money, which is pretty much prostituting yourself IMHO. I can see where a city would want to ban them, however I also feel that city needs to have some sort of anti adult-establishment law in affect or at least establish one.

Personally I just don't buy my coffee at those stands.

Personally, I think the town should be applauded....obviously they have taken care of high unemployment, homelessness, poverty, crime, upgrading city utilities and all the other problems that other areas of the country have, and now have time for such unimportant issues.

People of the City Council, Mayor Dave Enslow....Bravo, I salute you!

The lack of pictures makes it impossible for me to express an opinion on this subject.

Seriously though.....I thought they were open-minded in the PNW??? Geez, sounds like those repressive rednecks down south.

But the wording of the ordinance rules out any low cut top that shows side boob or cleavage below the top of the areola.

I guess I understand why they want to do it, but the execution is poor, IMO.

I have a problem with the pretention of the second word, not so much with the concept.

If they charge what Starbucks charges (I'd imagine more, since you get the added bonus of boobies) you'd probably get more bang for your buck at a strip club. :pirate:
