Big Jump
LAS VEGAS (AP) - Visitors to the Stratosphere tower in Las Vegas no longer need an elevator to get down from Sin City's highest building.
A new ride is giving daredevils a cable, a platform and a chance to jump to a blue and black target 829 feet below.

That's an improvement. In the bad old days, they used to toss people off balconies in Vegas without benefit of bungie (or clergy). I'm told that the mob no longer has a financial interest in Vegas
but it seems to me this new amusement was mob-inspired.

Hey - they just did a feature story on this jump on the Today Show.
The mayor of Vegas met the NBC news journalist after her jumps and offered her a martini telling her it "was 5 o'clock somewhere"...maybe he's a Parrothead?

I know it's not an airplane, but this reminds me of one of my favorite Clint Eastwood quotes. From "Heartbreak Ridge"...
Jumping out of a perfectly good aircraft is not a natural act.

The Today Show covered this and said it's only a 40mph descent. I may have to reconsider and try it. Although I agree that jumping out of a perfectly good aircraft or building isn't right.
