NHL 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs
A bit belated I know but better late than never. Who is going to win the cup? At this point, I don't know. It could be anyone (except the Devils of course).
Playoff hockey rocks! We have some great series. I thought that in the beginning of the playoffs, any of the lower Eastern Conference seeds could knock off the top seeds. And who knows about the Western Conference? Staying up until 12:30 AM watching all these games is killing me!

My Senators pulled it out of the fire last night. Hubby's going to Game 6 on Saturday, so he's twice as happy.

I was wondering if I missed this thread.
Painful 3OT loss for the Pens last night, but they should finish it on Saturday.
Interested in the Caps series, too.

I have to admit the Flyers have totally supprised me, the way that they got into the playoffs I thought that Jersey would have run them over even with the Flyers taking 5 of 6 during the regular season. Then we have the loss of Jeff Carter and Simon Gange and we still shut out the Devils. Looks like Boucher is playing up to his 2001 form!

Normally I don't put a ton of stock in season series since the playoffs are totally different animal. But the Flyers really took it to 'em and I wasn't completely suprised. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next round with Carter and Gange out. Depending on the Caps series, we could be seeing you.Seas in my veins wrote:I have to admit the Flyers have totally supprised me, the way that they got into the playoffs I thought that Jersey would have run them over even with the Flyers taking 5 of 6 during the regular season. Flyers looked good against Jersey. Pgh is my team and I am concerned about the goalie situation. The rest of the team is ready to defend the cup. I don't see anyone in the east beating Washington out of the East. I haven't seen enough of the west to have any idea who will be in the finals.
Hooray for Versus, their coverage has been outstanding.

Pivotal game 5 tonight between Ki Oats & Red Wings!! Here's hoping the Wings can get up in this series & look to put Phoenix in their rear view mirror.

From what I have see from the west this year....the cup is going to be traveling to the other coast!Skibo wrote:Flyers looked good against Jersey. Re: NHL 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs
So far the western conference games have been an outright bore. The east, with exception to Philly (New Jersey has zero offense) has been much more exciting. I wish Montreal could beat Washington but that doesn't seem possible.
I thought Pittsburgh would finish off the Senators the other night but for some reason, with all the talent the Penguins have, they found a way to lose.
Pulling for:
Detroit
Chicago
Vancouver
Pittsburgh
Montreal
Buffalo
Not rooting for Philly, San Jose or Colorado. If the last two could both just lose out now and neither advance that would be fantastic.

I will ALWAYS cheer for my hometown team. And yes, that's the Colorado Avalanche.
It's over if they don't win tonight. After that, I'll cheer for my previous home town team, the Blackhawks. There isn't any other team I'd root for.

I'm listening to the concert but put the TV on to check on the Sens-Pens game. It was beginning of 3rd period and m Sens were up 3-1, but those d*m penguins have scored twice.... tied 3-3 with a minute to go.... another OVertime?

Re: NHL 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs
As the resident Canadiens fan here, I think the Habs can beat Washington. They had a winning record against them in the regular season, with a team decimated with injuries. The Habs really didn't have their complete team back together til a couple weeks before the playoffs started. The Canadiens have shown the way to beat them is to get in their faces as they cross the blue line and not let them get their shots off. It frustrates them to the point the give up on the team concept and resort to individual rushes, which are even easier to defend.HurricaneSeason wrote:So far the western conference games have been an outright bore. The Canadiens weakness are size and depth. The Habs have led in almost all the games and the Caps have had to come back to win, after wearing down the smaller players on the Habs. If Spacek can come back and play the next two games, and shut down Ovie as he did in the first couple of games in the series, they can win. I think he is key, as Spacek can neutralize Ovie and also limit the amount of time Marc Andre Bergeron plays defense, if you can call what he does defensive play.
I think if this goes to Game 7, the Habs will win the series, as the Caps will be playing scared.
OTOH, the Caps could blow out the Habs tomorrow night and end it all, they do have the firepower. Either way, it's been a great series, and I look forward to game 6.
