I know many of you that think that the Parents of Abby
should be charged for her rescue..

how many think the Boats (or Fishing companys) should be
charged for the rescues (or medi-vacs) of the guys/girls
from Deadlist Catch? that has gotta cost major $$$$ every year..

discuss.... in 3..............2.......................1

But aren't they doing their job, as opposed to having an adventure?

I'll be honest - as a tax payer I'd rather pay for Abby's rescue than I would for the 16 year olds that get knocked up and go on welfare....

As do many other jobs...ask the guy who fell into the meat grinder a couple days ago and lost both his legs...and was still conscious when paramedics got to him. :o

I have no problem with folks having to foot some of the bill when the rescue is related to something "recreational" (for lack of a better word) in nature. In this age of budget cuts, doing so may help insure that SAR is available for anyone who needs it. At least on this side of the country, too many of these rescues are a direct result of folks being unprepared/unqualified to do whatever it was they were doing. Or just plain stupid. :-?

Too bad we can't tax stupid...all our budget problems would be solved.

And if stupid were more instantly fatal, we would no longer have a population problem. :)

OTOH, most of *us* wouldn't be here either. I'm guessing that at some time in our lives, we've almost all done something potentially fatal-stupid.

The problem is with the ones who don't learn from it.
