Not exactly sure what that means, but from the looks of things- driving and parking on Sunday will be a nightmare.

Traffic is always a nightmare down there. There are also a ton of "speed traps" to look out for in and around the small towns leading to Gulf Shores.

Not sure about actual open container "law", but they say no glass, use a koozie or a cup and you'll be fine. We walked the beach with cocktails and saw others.

Koozie packed! See you tomorrow! Flight lands at P'cola at 10:30.......should be at Flora-Bama by 12:00ish. Need to buy some supplies. Check-in is at 3.

I'm cross posting this here because I"m guessing some of you were smart enough to stay away from the "Jimmy coments on oil" thread. I highlighted the important part in red...you can ignore the rest.

Newsflash, people: Our government has been in bed with Big Oil for a loooong time now. Neither side of the aisle is blameless. Nor are we, the voting public, blameless either...because we keep voting these yahoos into office without researching their background, their views, their affiliations, their supporters. Many entertainers spout their political beliefs, that is nothing new either. But few actually do anything other than write a check, if that. Jimmy is trying to make a difference for the people, wildlife and environment of the gulf. How about we concentrate on that and leave the political stuff aside? For those of you lucky enough to be able to attend this event, spend a little time talking to the folks who live and work in this region and find out how they are really being affected, then report back to us. We're a resourceful group, I bet we can find a way to help. Let's stop the bickering and blaming and find out what is *really* going on...and then do what we parrotheads do best: Party with a purpose.

yes. think a t-intersection and everything funnelling south into it. , with side-streets basically 3 lanes wide. if you can park in a shuttle lot like LuLu's on the other side of the ICW, it might take a while, but someone else is dealing with the traffic.

The Blue Angels will be flying at home base in Pensacola this weekend. Factor in extra traffic etc. for that.

With the Blues flying so close to the venue, y'all might get a flyover. Growing up down there, the Blues were our alarm clock two days a week. We'd hear the roar and race down the pier in our pajamas to watch them do their turn back to Naval Station Pensacola. GOOD TIMES!!! Grandma didn't mind that, but she hated it when we'd go out to the pier during thunderstorms watching for water spouts.

Just want to pop in to say "Happy Gulf Shores Weekend" to all who are attending! I think it's great that Jimmy is doing this... I think it's great so many of "us" will be there. Oh, goody and fantastic. I just read a post by him on one of Jesse Winchester's songs on youtube and was thinking...WILL should be there in Gulf Shores with everyone. I hope he gets to do some of his own stuff. He is a great solo performer.

We'll be on the road again tomorrow morning. Right now we are getting tons of rains from TD#2, which came in around Brownsville this morning.

King there is always a gray area. I booked my condo in order to get tickets. I had to book one anyways and it was the easiest way to get the tickets. Now the rate was NOT jacked up due to the concert or the tickets so I can justify that my tickets were free, just like the rounds of golf and other amenities I have taken from room/condo rental in the past.
Professional or amateur ticket scalpers are the problem. Not the people who are making it hard for them to sell their wares. A note for those of you who are thinking about selling a ticket or two while down there to make a quick buck please remember that scalping is illegal here....unless you are a licensed ticket agent with the state of Alabama. I have been told by reliable sources that there are going to be around 200 undercover "buyers" to bust scalpers working the South Alabama area through the show. So wheel and deal with caution.
Also while your down this way if you have time The National Naval Aviation museum in Pensacola is a great way to kill an afternoon...and its free. http://www.navalaviationmuseum.org/

if you can take a bicycle. There are bike lanes all over the place down there. During heavy trafic events its faster than a car to get around that way. Or you could just rent one an spread a little more money 'round.

the reason writers write.. for the tear on Neko's face.. Anything that touches our heart for even short time and brings us home.
