Daytona Beach

Post by CindaBee »

Going to Daytona Beach for a week mid-August. Staying on the beach with grown keet and keet-in-law and 2 grandkeets. Any recommendations for good seafood in that area. Will have a car, so can travel.

Thanks,

Don't know about the seafood but Hog Heaven on Atlantic Ave. has good

Thanks. Will put that on our dining out itinerary. The 6 year old is a MAJOR rib fan.

My buddy and I stopped in here for a few beers and appetizers a few years back.
Great tropical atmosphere!

Here's a very good restaurant Park's Seafood, it's along the river. They have a great selection of reasonably priced Early Bird meals with very good portion. They do have other items besides seafood. We always eat here when in Daytona: http://www.parkseafood.com/

Another very good restaurant is down on the Ponce Inlet down by the Lighthouse called Down the Hatch: http://www.down-the-hatch-seafood.com/

Here is the link for the lighthouse: http://ponceinlet.org/

Another fun thing to do with the family is to go to DeLeon Springs Park. There is a restaurant in the park called the Old Spanish Sugar Mill. Their specialty is make your own pancakes. There is a griddle built into the table. You can get different items to put in your pancakes, chocolate chips, bananas, fresh peanut butter, pecans. The park is beautiful and they have a spring fed pool for wading and swimming. Allow plenty of time as the restaurant can quite often have a waiting list. It is worth it. It's a good half hour or so drive from Daytona.

The Park: http://www.planetdeland.com/deleonsprings/

A great place for a Burger and boiled shrimp, along with many other items is the Brickyard

Here's one more for you with seafood and a variety of other items, along with outdoor seating overlooking the marina on the river: http://www.caribbeanjacks.com/

If anybody is into Stock Car Racing the Daytona 500 experience is pretty cool.
